2) As far as I know you have to pay Steam (just an example), to put the game in there. Is the same as paying the retailer, it might be cheaper but that's about it.

I believe selling digital, even through steam, the publisher gets more money than a copy sold at a retail-store.
Somewhere here in these forums there was a breakdown of the sales retail vs digital.

Higher budgets? That doesn't look good .

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

If only there were a hardware manufacturer that didn't develop very powerful hardware, instead investing in, say, a new input system to broaden the possibilities without adding much of a burden. And if only that new input system were a part of the hardware in such a way that the costs would be absorbed by the manufacturer, not the 3rd party devs.

If only.

How much do you want to bet that if a company did that, people would call it a gimmick.

How much do you want to bet?

As already mentioned, this is quite different than what several 3rd parties stated, 10-15% increase in budgets. Not sure if they're having difficult time jumping to new tools, or just bragging how much effort goes into next gen. ;)

I think pokoko meant paid DLC, which is an additional revenue for the devs.

And Nintendo will be like:

"Aww shit guys, not again T_T"

now we know why Nintendo is having such a hard time getting their games finished and released- It takes a lot more resources/capital/man power and Nintendo is trying to get by on as little cash as possible so they can avoid posting more losses and/or at least posting much smaller losses- They have the money to invest in this console generation but they sure have been reluctant to do so- a short term decision that is going to hurt them longer term-

They did WW HD in 6 months, can't wait to see its sales legs.
