It'll be fine, we have better tools and stuff now, and developers and publishers will simply learn better self-discipline. The days of bloated budgets are coming to an end soon!

I think we all agree that this is a bad thing...

Maybe we'll see a vast gap in graphics between the hyper expensive high end games and mid-tier titles. The key to that working is different price points, which should be easier with more and more digital options

So, the costs of developing games will continue to rise?

Just what the 8th gen needs!

something tells me this won't end well if things continue like this

And still everyone is shi**ing on Nintendo for wanting to keep dev costs down.....

Higher budgets means also less risks = more of the same stuff

You also have to keep in mind that for devs it's "new", especially for the 1st party devs! They had to use PPC for a very long time, Sony 1st party had to cell whistlers. 3rd party won't have that high of an obstacle because they have tools for pc already ready.

indies will save the game industry.

this.   ..or at least creativity.

We are now going to enter a world were AAA games are going to have to sell 3mil+ in order to break even.

sounds good for an industry already on the brink of collapse lol.

I'm totally ok with the last of us level of graphics though, no need to push it that much further.

Just push creativity, please.

I agree with walsufnir, 1st party devs and third parties that haven't developed for PC, so most of the japanese ones, will have more trouble than the other devs, which are more used to work with higher quality assets.

Still, this is not good news.

Please excuse my bad English.
