I'm sure they are considering it, it all depends on sales though

I can't wait to get my hands on this beauty myself!

I honestly am clueless on this hint.

Hint 2: Your avatar shows another game from that developer.

Oh, after I typed down the list I recognized I missed it.  I decided not to include it due to the sheer fact that I knew it would be dispelled right away as just "handhelds."
Which is why I made that statement afterwards that I knew some of the games I listed were for handhelds (namely Etrian Odyssey, Kingdom Hearts, Mario & Luigi, and Golden Sun).
But of course, Pokemon is Nintendo's largest RPG.

Pokemon is far and away the largest rpg series in the world.

Interesting daily factoid:

Xenoblade and Final Fantasy I have the exact same total lifetime sales, 840,000 worldwide. Could Xenoblade be the beginning of the next "Final Fantasy"? I think so. And I would expect X to at least double Xenoblade's sales, and more likely triple it or more.

Cause shit don't sell as much as Nintendo's bigger games

O_o I never though of that. And I agree. X will at least double Xenoblade, but it is more than capable of doing even more!

To be honest, I think VGC's Xenoblade numbers are massively overtracked. It sold 400,000 in North America basically all through GameStop and GameStop didn't bother to ask for a second shipment? Most of the copies on their storeshelves were gone within the first couple of months too.

It's only now after 2 years that they get a very small amount of dead stock?

I don't buy it. It's more likely IMO the North American sales are more along the lines of 160-200k just like Europe.

To really make X a success, Nintendo would really have to spend a lot of money marketing it, and I don't think they have much interest in doing so. The best bet is that it's such a good game that the game media really starts to pump it up as a GOTY candidate and that gives it much more exposure.

Kid Icarus Uprising is basically a new IP (for all intents and purposes), on a 3DS userbase that will be larger than what the Wii U userbase will be if X launches next year, and Nintendo actually did market that game (at least by their standards) and it still only managed about 1 million worldwide.

I don't see X topping that unfortunately. It will have a smaller userbase to sell to and what is probably a more niche genre.

I hope it does well, but I'm having trouble seeing it.

Nintendo doesn't have the market which would make X a big franchise.

Uhh... no.

Most insighful retort ever.

The retort that i didn't want to make

A) Xenoblade and the Last Story did pretty well in Japan and the West as far as new IP JRPGs go, so the Nintendo base reacted favorably to them (within what can be expected for games of that type).

B) Xenoblade's current $90 asking price at GameStop. There's the possibility that GameStop is just functionally insane, but they might actually have people willing to pay $30 more than a brand-new AAA release for Xenoblade, enough of them to make this worthwhile, showing the existence of demand. If we could see how many copies GS moved at that price, we'd have a better idea of the extent of such demand as well.

C) Nintendo runs the single biggest JRPG of the last 15 years: Pokemon

D) Nintendo has also managed to scare up good sales for the main Japanese ARPG, Monster Hunter.

So... no.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I personally don't think Nintendo likes to "hype" games or tell the consumer what is good, what they should like or be interested in. They like to let the market speak for itself. The games they do "hype" with lots of promotion have earned it.

I know this seems backwards in todays landscape, but...it is sort of refreshing.

You know, based on what we've seen from the game so far, I don't think Nintendo's investment in X is anything other than significant. >_>
