Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One: Why We Can’t Trust Microsoft

Deflection thread?

Anyhow... How many threads do we need with almost the exact same title?

Do people "trust" any corporations?

articles like this are exercises in self indulgent, pompous bullshit.

I hate gaming journalists with a passion. Idiots, the lot of them.

Truth

Around the Network

As a heavy consumer of video games, me owning the Wii, Wii U, PS3, and have full paid my preorders for both the Ps4 and Xbox One, I don't know why people are bagging on either of these companies. I love the video game industry and what each company brings to the table. That is the reason I buy them all. I hope there is never a time where there is just on console. These companies aren't a spouse or a family member, what is with all the talk about trust. Let people buy what they like and not be criticized for it.

"I support the industry that's why I rock with all of the Big 3!"

Is there still an idiot on earth that trust big companies ?

This.

MS has committed more U-turns than a poor A.I. bot stuck in a wall.

But at least they are u-turns in a positive direction. However, they sure as hell should never have been driving in that direction to begin with.

You have seen Apple fans, right?

Trust /= Believe

Don’t believe for a section that Microsoft is suddenly the bastion of honour. It might be paying lip service to the demands of the internet, but nothing will change. Not really.

Do these people ever actually read the garbage they write up? Don't believe anything this moron has to say ... not for a section.

No company is automatically deserving of our trust. Let's look at how the big 3 have treated us with just a few examples ...

Nintendo pushed out a Wii U system with no games and an online system that makes the original Xbox Live service from 2004 look debonair by comparision. They have not had good third party support since the SNES which was 20 years ago now.

Sony gave us a 599 U.S. dollar disaster of a system that took nearly 3 years to become worth purchasing. Let's not forget the hacking incident, and the recent revelation that PS Plus has now become a manditory service for those that want to play online.

Microsoft gave us a system with a higher failure rate than a Detroit inner city high school. They were the ones that started all of this nonsense of paying for online in the first place too.

None of the big three deserve your respect. Microsoft is not a special case.

Nice xD

Maybe its me but I only had a few issues with MS original plan.

MS wanted to make the X1 a digital console. They stated that you will be able to, resell, trade, gift and share your digital collection. I could not find any fault in this strategy. Currently you cannot do any of this with the current systems that sell digital content.

Yes there was concessions that were needed to go this route. The only big issue I believe people had with their original policy is that for physical disk based games people wanted the old standard solution. MS wanted to go full digital and that was their problem. They designed the X1 for full online and digital and they wanted to leave the physical market alone.

MS inability to tout what they wanted to do and how those online features are a plus to gamers was one of their problems. Already most people purchase their PC games online. The consoles will be the same. Sony, MS and even Nintendo have online stores. Getting your games on a physical disk is becoming the minority system.

To answer the topic, do I trust MS, HELL NO. I never trusted MS but then again I do not trust Sony or Nintendo. I know what drives them and its not always the gamers needs or wants. This is why competition is needed in this space. It shapes all of these companies because once one of them gets to strong, they go more corporate. Nintendo did this in the 80s, Sony had their turn before the 360 stole some thunder. Now MS had to eat humble pie because they got a little to ahead of themselves.

So this article states what if MS goes back to their original DRM plan. The problem with what Ifs is that you can make them for any company. Competition keeps all these companies honest, not some hypothetical what if. The reason MS will not go back is because Sony and Nintendo are still in the market!!

Higher failure rate than a Detroit inner city high school?

Well I'm pretty annoyed with Sony at the moment who might have less available RAM than the Xbox One. They wern't up front about that, which I'm not happy with.

At the same time I did agree with Microsoft's DRM policy, I don't agree with other things. But who really cares, if you trust them get their console, if you don't don't get the Xbox.

My rule is simple: never trust any company, trust yourself. I like MS's games, operating system and Products. Would Sega rise again with their own machine I would, however, go back to them. The fact MS has made a u-turn on "Always online" is good if you are against it, but you are still not satisfied? Seriously?
