the always connected camera is the main reason why you should not trust them. not because of someone maybe hacking in and watching you, no. because of the possibility that the camera could be used to monitor how many people are watching/playing movies/games. and due to certain drm laws, which pretty much say that only the product buyer has the right to use it, the software might block you and your friends from watching/playing until you pay a fee for additional rights. call me paranoid but i think they might try it out when xbox-one becomes a success.

cuz phuck... nobody has camera phones, nobody has notebooks with cams, nobody knows your location. But please, trust the other guys... coz they don't have any 3d cameras. Don't  you realize... a company would be stupid not to patent this shit... everybody patents everything. And if you come to put it that way... it's not about you not trusting them, it's about them not trusting you. So this must be a trap. A 5GB trap.

if the camera is just ment as a gaming/control tool, why don't they let me unplug it? last time i checked the camera always has to be plugged in even if you do something with the xbox-one where you don't need the camera. there has to be a reason for that and so far i have nothing heard or read from microsoft that would explain how an always online camera would be superiour to a camera that i simply can unplug. oh by the way: the xbox-one camera is not built in like a phone or laptop camera.

You probably cannot unplug it because the cosole expects certain information form the camera.  Cheap way out for MS is not to code a lot of conditions if the camera is not hooked up.  Things like the voice turn on in standby, profile matching and controller recognition.  There is probably a slew of other things that the camera and audio does.  It also could be that MS just had this one sided view that the Kinect is X1 and people would prefer it on then off.  In the end, MS gave youthe ability to turn Kinect off in the options but the hardware boot up which is physical probably still need the connection and changing at this time would cost to much.

No they can't be trusted and neither can Sony who tries to hide facts.

Since when did Sony keep facts from us? They just didn't restrict us and kept making high quality exclusives. Microsoft and Sony are in no way equal when it comes to consumer thinking.

LoL. Unless of course you buy a game used and want to play online. You need to pay for an online pass right? Sony now has a pay wall for the PS4.

Just explain to me how they are not equals when it comes to consumer thinking? I'm sincerely curious because I've no dog in this fight.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Breaking news: All companies want your money. Whether this is through white lies, hiding something or appealing to you to get your money up front.

It's just that simple.

Um....Sony already had PSN Plus up, they just added multiplayer to it. I already paid for it willingly. They dont cut you off from the world like Microsoft. I never minded the online pass either as long as I didnt get DRM paywall over it like MS had planned in the beginning which would take a cut out of what Gamestop makes per used game and give it to devs and MS.

Deflection thread?

Anyhow... How many threads do we need with almost the exact same title?

Do people "trust" any corporations?

articles like this are exercises in self indulgent, pompous bullshit.

I hate gaming journalists with a passion. Idiots, the lot of them.

Truth

Not all of us are bad.

But, sadly, the majority sure as hell are.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Short answer: No

Long answer: HHHeeeeellll Noooo

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I don't trust SONY or MS. I thin Nintendo is a more honorable company.

and that is exactly the problem. right now i simply cannot see why this certain information should contribute to media entertainment only. i maintain that there is a bigger plan behind the xbox-one camera but to execute it they first have to get us used to having a turned on camera in our rooms.

how could they pull that off since you can be offline ???
you DL your content you turn off your connection and you are good to go if you are worried about anything....
I don't see what could be the issue.... the only time you need to be online and stay online is if you play MP or you stream media....

and even if the patent would be enforced, why do people have to think it would be a bad thing. for all we know it would drive the cost down for single persons and have the same ceiling price....
