Forums - Sony - Sony need to do something with the Vita in U.S.

They had a chance to turn it around at E3, they failed. No matter how much I enjoy the Vita, nothing can save it.

Also, it's less than 15k. It could be worse.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

If all else fails, at least we can stream ps4 games to the damn thing lol. Yeah, I hope they figure something out too, but tbh, even if they didnt make another game for it past this years releases I would be completely satisfied with just the amount of rpgs that will be available.

Edit:  they really just need to drop the damn price, drop the prices of the memory cards, release larger capacity memory cards and push the holy living hell out of its connectivity capabilities with the ps4, while possibly bundling it with the ps4.  Incentivize Sony, you are already doing such a great job with ps plus and the ps4, its the Vita's turn for some game changing announcements.  Make it happen.

15k for May is just horrible. Sony really need to cut the price or do something. I really hope they are not just letting the VIta die because I really love my Vita.

If developers are unable to fit all the content on one cartridge, include another one. Halfway through the game ask to switch to second cartridge. This has been around for years and there is no reason it cannot be done for vita also.

That's a possible solution, but a troublesome one. First, it requires the entire game be structured around being split in half. That means no open world, having one copy of the game engine per cartridge, etc. Second, there's the matter of carrying over save files. The only way it could work is to require games to be saved onto the memory card as opposed to within the cartridge. Third, it's expesnive. Each card only costs a couple of bucks to make, but unless they're willing to add $5 or $10 to the final price, that's a large portion of the actual profit made from a game.

Dedicated handhelds are finished in North America, there's a small space at the table for the 3DS, but even that will not come close to the DS or GBA (year by year) over here.

Everytime I go to an airport I see like 7-8 kids playing on a tablet (presumably their parents) to every one 3DS I've ever seen. Have never seen a Vita.

Upcoming? What? It's nearly a year away!

Joke attempt.

Actually Gamescon is where Tear away and Killzone Mercinaries was announced, so i expect 1 or 2 announcements there.

I think the Vita's sales will pick and stabalize once titles start being released for it on a regular basis. That starts this summer with Masumura, Dragon Lair, Rayman Legends, Killzone, Arkam origin: blackgate, Tear Away and then PS4 functionality. It will never be a real success at this point, but it will remain alive. Japanese titles, PS3 streaming and PS4 remote play will hopefully keep it alive throughout 2014.

Why though? The existence of the PC has not killed the console market. Isn't there room for dedicated devices?

I don't have much hope for 2013. Maybe next year.

Price cut
Piracy
a bunch of excellent games

These could all lift the sales by quite a bit.

I guess the games are coming eventually.

2014:
Borderlands 2
Disgaea 4: Return
Dragon's Dogma: Quest
Final Fantasy X/X2
Freedom Wars
God Eater 2
God of War Collection
Gravity Rush 2
Minecraft
Monster Hunter Frontier G
Murasaki Baby
Phantasy Star Nova
PlayStation Vita Pets
Souls Sacrifice: Delta
The Lego Movie Videogame
etc.

I don't think people want the other than us the fanbase. But even that won't help.
