Forums - Sony - Sony need to do something with the Vita in U.S.

Only chance for Vita is PS4 and remote-play. If this doesn't convince consumers, it's done. Lke everyone said before release Vita's audience seems to be the one which play on mobiles and tablets - and they win by far, it seems.

Remote play is not gonna convince anyone without good games.

The Vita has games, but it needs more exclusives. They would get a few if they managed to localised all those Japan only RPG's. I know shahid say he is gonna try, but its gonna be difficult to get partner support for those without some momentum going on the Vita with a price cut.

I am expecting that to happen when killzone mercenary drops. If they managed to confirm PSO2 for this year it would be great for the Vita.Next year we could finally see those localisation projects come to fruition and maybe be graced with some Tales of, FF type 0, God eater 2, Freedom wars, etc. Now add to that possible Sony west developed games and the Vita has a great year next year.

They really need to get those localisations going though. The Vita will be much richer with those games. Especially because here in the west we dont care that there isnt a monster hunter for it.

Here in the west we especially like western games, nowadays. Even if the localized games release here: they didn't help vita in JP and won't do it here. The Vita is a good product but doesn't have a chance against mobiles and tablets. It is not enough to have a portable ps3, the Vita has to be and to have very unique features to convince customers. By now it fails to do so.

vita dont need games or a move only in Usa, i say in whole world. vita is excelent in hardware, but sony kill the handheld system and give AAA franchise to ps4 instead PSV. Psp have so much games an better than vita. i ask, is too expensive make a new final fantasy, metal gear, GTA, exclusive?

The biggest thing it needs is a price cut. Then some good games.

It seems like Sony is struggling to find support and is settling with indie support.

15k for May is just horrible. Sony really need to cut the price or do something. I really hope they are not just letting the VIta die because I really love my Vita.

OP, I'll pray for you.

You have opened the doors to hell with that comment @ bolded/underlined/italic

Whats wrong with that comment? I love my vita too.

They need to localise the Japanese games and moneyhat western devs to make games for it - there is no other way, I hope that PS4 earns them enough money so that the can afford to pay western 3rd parties. Even if they can't buy completely new games, they should get remakes of big titles, preferably PC games like Morrowind, The Witcher, KOTOR, Amnesia (this would be something!), etc. They should also bring some of their PSX franchises back to life. Also order Naughty Dog and Santa Monica to create at least one Vita team. It's really not that hard to save Vita, but you need good will and money to do that. I just hope Kaz finds enough money in the coming 2 years to save Vita the way he did with PS3 - the console sure deserves it.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Price drop, more emphasis on games, heck even ps3 ports would be better than almost nothing

I agree 100% with this. How hard is it to port a game to the Vita?

Pretty hard I'd imagine.

Think about this: the Vita Game Card is a maximum of 4 GB large. There are rumors of a theoretical 8 GB card, but only the 4 GB one currently exists. If that doesn't sound like a lot, that's because it isn't. A standard PS3 Blue Ray is 25 GB, or over six times bigger. And that's without any special loopholes; Uncharted 3 GOTY Edition is 43.5 GB thanks to dual-layering technology.

True, most games aren't as big as Uncharted 3. But even assuming most games are just a third of that size, imagine how hard it is to make a 14 or 15 GB game a mere 4 GB. Actually, it's even harder, because about 400 MB is reserved for patches and save data in Vita games. True, you can reduce the complexity of textures, simplify models, etc. But with developers moving towards even bigger and more complex games, why would they want to invest time into figuring out how to downsize?

I don't mean to bash the Vita. It's a neat little system with plenty of great games. But if you were buying one expecting games as big as those found on Blue Rays, despite having game cards smaller than a regular DVD, you were out of your mind.

Say what you want about the 3DS, it is appropriately powered for its game cards, which are also 4 GB. It may only be as powerful as a GameCube rather than almost as powerful as a PS3, but a 4 GB cap is a much better fit for the 3DS.

If developers are unable to fit all the content on one cartridge, include another one. Halfway through the game ask to switch to second cartridge. This has been around for years and there is no reason it cannot be done for vita also.
