Forums - Sony - Isn't PS4 just as capable of multi-media as XB0?

no, wait, the PS4 DOESN't multitask? Quick, stop the presses....

And don't ever get the idea of useing a button on the controller for task switching. It is much better to

a) lay away the controller

b) stand up and remove any furniture between you and the sensor

c) yell loudly, so that every neighbour can hear: "XBox, Undress the femal here" , or wave your arms in any of the 300 pretrained ways to execute the 300 available commands.

d) sit down and grab the controller again (or grab whatever is more appropriate if Kinect2 did understand). ?

The other task in the background never stops though like it does on the PS3 and I'd extrapolate the PS4. On the ONE, everything is live.

I'm not sure if that's a super important difference, but it's much more seamless and organic.

The other two points you ignored them.

Sony at some point always takes the media stuff MS pioneers and adds it to their own.

But since they are below the radar and they talk about exclusives, its totz ok.

PS had an HDTV receiver/DVR and Amazon Instant Video before Xbox, and I'm sure Xbox is behind in music, so it goes both ways though Xbox has traditionally been ahead.

OP: PS4 lacks the kinect stuff. I'd bet Xbox will get a few apps and services earlier and exclusive content all over the place.

I watched it on live on my 360, will go re watch this section, right back with comment

You'll find it in the section where they show the fantasy league stats along with the live football footage, and in another place where they snap on IE while watching star trek I believe to get some info.

Not sure if you saw this edit

Ok that was the picture in picture multitasking. From the slides Sony has shown of their OS this feature is also supported.

This pic shows Voice/Video/Text/Live Streaming all at the same time.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Being a machine that can run games very well means that it can run pretty much anything very well. The Xbone does seam tho make it (much?) easier to create apps that can run in parallel with games on it, that's all.

Dude...Apps, Blu Ray, Cloud...current gen Sony started all of that. Sony has been a huge multimedia influence on the gaming industry and came before microsoft. Microsoft came to the industry to beat Microsoft out for the multimedia market in the gaming industry, but they realized they needed games to get it done. What you saw tuesday is the culmination of their aspirations.

In UK.

PS3 = No LiveTV. Only catch UP BBc Iplayer kinda stuff. Smaller movie rental list and buy list. only 7 apps. No sports at ALL.

360 = FULL Live TV via Sky. Massive movie rental and buy list. Even buy 1080p HD films with smartglass inbuilt. Like The Hobbit recently. 63 apps. Live sports and sports apps for fantasy leagues.

The One looks to capitilise on all these things and then some. Also the share button sounds moot now considering The One has inbuilt DVR that allows you to fully edit your videos before posting them to Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc. You can add your own music cut and produce short films. etc.

Im glad Ive paid for Live the last 7 years.

It seems to be 100% dependant on where you live. Here in the US on my PS3 I have access to NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL GameCenter and MLB.TV for my sporting needs and I am sure it will still be there with PS4.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I forgot about that. The application is highly gamer-centric wouldn't you agree? Whereas in the xbox presentation it was anything that could be snapped on from skype to IE to a fantasy league.

They will but just after they stress all about games...

They already confirmed that the multimedia features in PS4 will be talked a long of the year and first they will focus on games.

I loved that.

Sonys OS gives entertainment but puts the movies and music behind the games, and is built around the gamer/multiplayer experience.

Which is why I can't wait to play HD-DVDs on my new PS4!
