Forums - Sony - Isn't PS4 just as capable of multi-media as XB0?

Well you can multitask on the Xbox one which I don't think you can do on the PS4.

Well I think you don't have the slightest clue what multitasking is. As by your imagination, the move controller has never worked on the PS3 and will not work on the PS4, because as per your command "PS4 does not multitask".....

They didn't think of the need to mention that because live tv has been availble for decades. All that is new is that you snap at your tv.

I don't get what you're trying to tell me, but in the Xbox One presentation they showed the guy watching a movie and then opening an internet browser in the same screen whilst the movie kept playing. It would be pretty cool to have the TV playing whilst you played a game.

In UK.

PS3 = No LiveTV. Only catch UP BBc Iplayer kinda stuff. Smaller movie rental list and buy list. only 7 apps. No sports at ALL.

360 = FULL Live TV via Sky. Massive movie rental and buy list. Even buy 1080p HD films with smartglass inbuilt. Like The Hobbit recently. 63 apps. Live sports and sports apps for fantasy leagues.

The One looks to capitilise on all these things and then some. Also the share button sounds moot now considering The One has inbuilt DVR that allows you to fully edit your videos before posting them to Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc. You can add your own music cut and produce short films. etc.

Im glad Ive paid for Live the last 7 years.

Please actually state the truth when talking about the 360 and PS3

You mean like turning both my consoles on rigt now?

Everything I said is 100% accurate where I live.

PS3 = Live TV via PlayTV or NOW TV. PSN Store has virtually exactly the same amount of films to buy/rent with 1080p offered as the 360. Sport offered on NOW TV (Sky Sports)and the BBC Sport app.

63 Apps for the 360? Are you having a laugh? Yes it has plenty more than the PS3, but 63? Please.

Hold on your comparing NowTV against proper full Sky???????????????

http://www.nowtv.com/

Now TV lets purchase a pass at a monthly cost for Movies or Sports. Thats it. Nothing else. On top of that the prices are worse than moaning about Xbox Live.

Monthly pass for Movies ( even if you already are a Sky customer ) is 15.99 GBP/ month. The sports is get this 9.99 GBP/day. Yes a day. I pay 30.00 GBP for SKy/month and get all what Now TV offers plus 100+ other channels. And get access via the Xbox 360 free. FREE. FFFFFRRRRREEEEEEE. All Channels on 360 freeeeeeee. Thats Live TV. Not Sports and movies that Sky offer. PS3 in UK does not have live TV. You can watch Live Sport for 9.99GBP/day and thats it. or catch up TV.

And yes the library of HD films on PS3 is smaller than 360. Ironically as well All of Sony Pictures movies are available on 360 in full 1080p some with smartglass. PS3 is better recently with its new releases. But the back catalog of films misses alot that 360 has.

Erm, it's not free. You have to pay for Xbox LIVE. But it is free to watch it through the Sky box you get for FREE with every monthy package. And the Sky box can actually record.

So, for the record the best option for each is:

Sky - Use the free box you get with the required monthy sub (360 makes you pay for LIVE and you can't record)

NOW TV - PS3 and 360 are equal

Freeview - PS3 with PlayTV lets you record and watch, no sub required (360 can't do anything with Freeview)

So in the UK, the PS3 is the better option for TV

Play TV? Ok. That still available? Never seen one.

Not new anymore but you can get them used.

Edit: Your conclusion is wrong, PS3 has play TV freeview is good for almost everything, PS3 has DVD and Blu-ray playback, Netflix and Lovefilm are not behind a paywall. In terms of Multimedia capabilities all 360 has is the Sky TV deal, maybe if you call it monomedia 360 has a slight non-existant advantage.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

sky is very useful on 360, denying it is dishonest.

Your conclusion is wrong.

Sky on 360 is less useful than the free box you get from Sky anyway, and it costs more as you have to pay for LIVE. And a DVR service for Freeview (that everyone in the UK gets and can use) is more useful than a Sky service.

If you think my conclusion is wrong, give a reason.

Probably but just without a expensive deal between them and a tv broadcaster, not like i care to be honest. I will buy a console for gaming, it don't really need to do much else. A phone or tablet could do stuff like movie streaming, skype or internet browser

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

psst. I tell you a little secret. Just a day ago, I was standing in front of a new Philipps 27in monitor. It sports something called "Multiview". You can have several windows open on the tv, connected to several sources. So watching tv (even several channels) in one area while playing something in another area can be done right now, without an XBox One.. Of course the PS4 wil be able to do that just as well, this is not rocket science. It has been done for ages and has been called pip - picture in picture. (The monitor also has camera and microphone for skyping but let's not get too excited. All these features will soon be standard in tvs..)

At some point during next gen, all TV is going to go to a "Pay for what you want Service" model instead of the model they have now.

At that point, Ill bet both machines will end up being the same (also so will your smart phone/tablet/computer/smart tv) through Provider Apps.

I agree with much of what you say.  But comparing now tv and full sky tv is pretty silly.   The 360 has far and away the better tv service in the UK.

I'm not saying that NOW TV is on par with Sky Go, of course Sky Go is a lot better. It's just the fact that the guy is exaggerating everything for 360 and downplaying everything for PS3 which isn't fair.
