Forums - Sony - Isn't PS4 just as capable of multi-media as XB0?

The PS4 will probably be able to do just about everything the Xbox One can for multi media. As should the WiiU. The only big limit seems to be the internet connection - Xone has a really fast one.

But that new Kinect and OS will (should) make things so easy, intuitive and covenant. It will be the killer app. Plenty of non gamers might buy it for the fantasy football stuff.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

The PS4 probably can, but it wont with the same level of quality of the Xbox one.
Remember the Xbox one will have an entire operating system dedicated to multi media, while the ps4 will not.
Plus not all the details of these systems are available, the Xbox one probably has a whole lot more to show, especially since they barely touched on XBL.

Since you didn't follow up, I did.

Marc Whitten did NOT say anything.  He neither confirmed nor denied what amount of memory the Xbox

Hahahaha when he was precisely asked about the 5/3 split, his answer was: "The weather is great in Redmont, they make excellent pies at Ma's Pie Store down the street, The cloud is really a great idea from MS, blablablabla ad infinitum". His face was tellling, though. In the meantime, Kotaku/neogaf have somewhat spilled the beams on a developer info about the different states games can be in. You don't want to read those threads because it gets slightly even worse for XBox One.

A non-answer is a non-answer.  It didn't confirm anything and it didn't deny anything.  I'm willing to wait to base my opinion off of fact.  Not on assumption.   Things are the way they are.  Better or worse doesn't matter.

The problem with Sony and multimedia has always been the software, it doesn't run as well and it isn't as well polished, the ps4 can certainly do all the things xboxone can do it just won't have as good of software running it.

Of course this will be true again because, like the previous gen, the PS4 will appear 12-15 months later than XBox One.

(Oh no.. wait.... this time we start at the same time with essentially the same PC architecture)

I'm not doing the work for you. Just google the key words and read.

The more I read about both the more the BOTH sound like limited PCs. Tbh I dont see how any gamer could even pretend to be happy about MS charging for used games but I honestly never thought anyone would pay for what is free everywhere is. I was talking to an xbox360 gamer the other day and they were upset about paying more for used games but when I brought up how they already pay to play online when its free everywhere else, I got a 5 minute speech about how paying to play online gave them bette servers(Every PC game I play online has dedicated) Secruity(MS has been hacked a few times) which has never been an issue for me.

The only real problem I have with Sony is how it thinks of its fanbase but then you actually go out and talk to a lot of Sony supporters and its easy to see why Sony says the things it does about them.

I'm refering to the hardware on the system.  As when the Xbox came out - most people used modems, while in ONLY had an either net connection.

The Xbox One has a Gigabit Ethernet.  The PS4's intenet connection at max, can only do 1/10 Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX)  Granted most people don't have that fast an internet (yet).  But if Google Fiber keeps expanding that may change.

http://fiber.google.com/about/

But yes, if you only have something like a 30mb/s internet doesn't matter.

5GB is for game code.  There is a portion of the 3GB that is used for video memory, and the difference for the OS.  So my guess is the OS total runs in 1GB while the game is running, using approximately 2GB of RAM for video graphics.  In constrained, the memory for video graphics is reallocated based on the needs of the application running.  Likewise in the suspended state, the game still retains the 5GB of memory, but has no access to the GPU.  So likely in this state all memory is allocated to the running app and the video needs of it.
