Forums - Sales Discussion - The Real question: Will PS4 outsell the 3DS on a regular basis or in the long run?

I love 3D Mario and I'd say it's on the casual side of things.

Then again, I suppose what we used to call casual isn't really casual by todays standards.

Nah

When PS4 settles after the holidays, its probably going to sell between 130-180k on average each week with the rumored $429.99 price tag

Edit: OH SH!T!! I didnt realize that the 3DS was selling around 150k each week.

I see absolutely nothing to suggest it'll anywhere near as high as that. 30-80k would be a more realistic prediction arguably.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Not even close

Go back and look at how much the ps3 was selling back in 2008 at $400

But now is not 2008. We're going to have 2 completely capable consoles which the vast majority of people have, so why upgrade? None of the 3DS, Vita or Wii U have had a very positive start, so I don't see why it should be any different for the PS4 or 720, because they'll be competing against their previous iterations; a fight they can't win.

Could be wrong of course, but I don't see anything which will appeal to the masses, saying "BUY ME!" straight away.

They were all overpriced

PS4 is going to be in better shape than ps3. It will have a better set of games at launch to start its library and it wont be overpriced.

It also wont have a direct alternative competitor to it thats been out for a year that established a full years worth of next gen games for it. It also wont be a half baked console like the ps3 was back then.

You are pushing it with that 30-80k prediction lol. I dont see how you would think it will sell that low

No. 3DS is a beast

In Japan. Where the PS brand is also a beast, and the PS brand is a beast in the West as well. The only thing keeping them from being huge is the 3DS and the 360.

3DS sold 230k last month in america, without pokemon, animal crossing, and super smash brothers. And in the years ahead we will see price drops, new models, new colors, the ds going away leaving the 3ds alone. 3DS will dominate the ps4 easily without a question in my mind, especially considering that 400 is the absolutle lowest the ps4 will be when it debuts.

Where did you get that 3DS sold 230,000 in March? Also, it had Luigi's Mansion, MH3U and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. So, yeah...

Wait until Pokemon gets released ;)

Only in 3/4 years time whne the 3ds cycle will be over.

Switch!!!

No.

No doubt all the kids would want  a 3DS for that game.
