I never said i wanted to enter the stock market . Still doesnt mean your not using strawman tactics to try downplay the point im making, and worse thing is when i pointed out to you thats what you where doing and explained how you didnt even deny it, instead you went on to another strawman tactic to try defeat my 2nd point -_- . How can the 3DS be failing if its YoY sales are going up? really?.

Down YOY everywhere but Japan, a small market that doesn't follow the trends of the rest of the world. Short term success in the hear and now is what the 3ds has (in Japan and Japan only). I again bring up the analogy of the cd player salesman in an Ipod age. Sales of cd players didn't just vanish over night. People in the world (except Japan) play games on phones, they don't have pocket space for handhelds anymore. If you think high Japanese sales are the end all be all and that nintendo handhelds will be around forever, thats your business. And the wiiU is in an even worse spot arguably.

Again strawman tactics from you, id have a better discussion with you bit that very first statement ruins everything else you have to say.

If 3DS Sales are up YoY how can it be failing really??. how many times do i have to keep saying that?. Dont you remember for such a market that doesnt matter its the only reason we have a PSVita now since its Japan that saved the PSP

Factual statements = strawman? Its failing because its sales are down in the US and Europe despite being cheaper and there is no reason to believe it will get better (it will most likely get worse save for spikes from Pokemon).

Yes its strawman cos fact is World wide sales are up YoY. Anyone im done talking about this to you go read up on strawman tactics but then it seems you have a pretty good grasp of it already .

Maybe if you read everything I wrote instead of believing in your own delusions it would sink in. CD players in the ipod age, thats what the 3ds is.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

the whole industry?

i can see a motive for console manufacturers to want to have the highly successful Nintendo games on their platforms.

but i have no idea why software publishers would want another competitor on the market.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

im sorry but one of my fav games mario party got a single entry.
with the amount of money they were making, a single kirby game was almost a slap in the face.
yeah, sure it was better than gamecube, but no, doesn't even come close to 64, much less snes or nes.
rare by itself on 64 made nearly more core games than nintendo made on wii.
something like 8 vs 12.

I see two Mario Party games and two Kirby games for the Wii in the database, and I think I'm sober...

I can't speak about the Wii vs Rare on N64 number of core games without a the definition of core you're using.

It's interesting to me how any downturn Nintendo has is always blamed on someone else. Third-party publishers and developers, other gaming manufacturers, even the consumers themselves. It would seem that Nintendo has zero control over their own destiny.

Seriously, what is up with this whole victim's role mentality? Why can't it have to do with Nintendo making poor decisions, or other companies making the best decisions for their own businesses, which what they are supposed to do? Or how about this one, how about some consumers not buying Nintendo consoles simply because they like something else more?

Nintendo is a big boy. It doesn't need excuses. This isn't an environment where others are obligated to keep Nintendo going just because. It's not an environment where developers and publishers are willing to take less profits just to make Nintendo systems popular. If they think their resources are best spent elsewhere then that is their prerogative.

So, really, quit it. The Wii U is going to be fine. It's in a niche role because that is where Nintendo has placed it. You can no more blame Microsoft or Sony for trying to take market share than you can Apple or Galaxy. Everyone is trying to get ahead, including Nintendo.

Nintendo is following their own beat and that's perfectly fine. However, you can't hold it against anyone else if they prefer a different set of drums entirely.

No-one ever suggested that Nintendo isn't at fault for a lot of the stuff that happens to it, however the belief that the industry and the media are perfectly fair towards Nintendo is equally laughable

as far as the media is concerend there is a huge bais against both sony and nintendo, not that they both dont have media outlets in their favore, but you can easily see bais against them anyday of the year. i dont know why but one of the reasons i believe this is because both these companies are japanese while MS is american, and a lot of the media (specially gaming media) is american

the OP's tittle alone cant be taken seriously so i didnt go shut down legitimate discussions, the OP did

This could just be my Nintendo fan and conpiracy theorist speaking but honestly, you look at all the consistant hate Nintendo gets from mainstream gaming "journalism" and how much third parties shun them, and suddenly this theory doesn't seem so farfetched.. If you think about it, it is in the third parties' best interest for Nintendo to be gone, as the will no longer have to worry about competing with their games on their deticated hardware. With Nintendo out of the picture, they'd essentailly be able to run the show, as Sony and MS pretty much just design their consoles to accomodate third parties anyway.

I think anyone in the industry who wants Nintendo out also by association supports the industry itself failing, because Nintendo is such a large part of it, without them, I honestly believe it would collapse like a house of cards. I say to anyone who wants Nintendo gone, developer, journalist, or gamer, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

If Nintendo left the industry, it would be a pretty sad day. It would be sort of like order 66 in Star Wars where all the Jedi were destroyed and the dark side took over.

I think this media approach towards Nintendo is related to the infancy of the videogame journalism as well. People hate Nintendo because their games are aimed to a broader audience - families and kids, while videogame sites and magazines insist in responding that games should be focused on adult content only, and some developers accept that approach.
I believe that this whole idea of videogames as just products for adults is somewhat dumb and pointless. While people still believe in this idea, games are doomed to be an entertainment niche market forever, unlike movies,tv and music, which are universally accepted.

Another thing that Ive been thinking, is that maybe it´s just about money. Nintendo has 23 of the 25 best sold games of all-time. Like it or not, their games are extremely popular and no company has never matched their achievements in popularity and universal appeal. Maybe developers just want to get rid of them, thinking that they could possibly take Nintendo consumers.... but they forget that Nintendo is such a huge part of this market, that if it collapses anyday you can be sure that the market will collapse as well.

Nintendo's primary franchises are burning out with the average customer, favor for the franchises in the companys native japan has been progressively dropping due in part to the penitration of mobile devices and tablets, and franchises such as angry birds and mobile apps, specifically in Japan, the relatively new chat service NAVER LINE has grown exponentially over the past year from - from wiki so take with a grain of salt:

As of November, 2012, LINE has more than 74 million users worldwide and is used in over 230 countries.[3]
As of Jan 18, 2013, LINE reached 100 million users worldwide, and reportedly gaining about 400 thousands users daily.[4]

It should be noted that registering an account requires confirming an active cellular number in the country you're registering from, so the number of 'dupe' accounts will be very low.

Along with the chat program comes games such as LINE POP, LINE Hidden Catch, LINE Bubble and some others - these games are spreading like wildfire and every where you turn in japan you see people on their phones playing them, the conventional consoles such as PSP and 3DS are still very popular but the primary franchises for nintendo are in decline, the monumental shift late in this generation if seeing once household names being abandoned and left only to the dedicated fanbases of such games.

For example, advertisements are fairly frequent on japanese TV, and WiiU commercials across all channels run 20+ times an hour, often advertising the online functions or mario games, but the interest is just not there, it's as if the only people that are going out and buying these are the loyal fans, the insane growth seen by the wii from customers who wouldnt normally purchase a games console, is just not there for the WiiU, as a result we're now seeing the situation Nintendo are currently facing, and they're just handling it terribly, releasing new (yet old, and lesser-features) hardware into a market already extremely confused about the product - most 5-16 year old kids (a large hunk of Nintendo's customer base), more often than not do not believe or know that the WiiU is actually a different console, more than its a 'different version' of the Wii which they're already bored of.
