xwan said: Its ok to discriminate as long as you don't act on it. It's ok for grandma to say she hates black people, as long as she doesn't act on it and go lynch a black man on a pole she's ok. By the same token, on one hand, there is religious tolerance, which means anyone can believe whatever they want. I am an atheist, so I believe there is no god and i think all bibles, all religions are bullshit, you need to respect that and you seem to be unable to do that by constantly trying to use "weak evidence" or actually no evidence so far, to proof that point. |
No, you're wrong, and you're wrong for a reason. You want to stick me. No, no, no, the truth is that you said that Dinos didn't co-exist with humans as a reason to doubt, I gave you answers. Go back to the start and you will see that you are either a liar, or that you are unconciously lying.
Also, saying racist things is not acceptable in an honorable society imho.
| Most religion serves one purpose, and it's to tell people they should be a good person. But I am already a good person to being with, i told by my teacher to not hit other kids, and to give to others and do good things because it is the "RIGHT" thing to do. I don't need some over-arching power to tell me that i will go to heaven only if i do good deed and believe in Him. I transcend that level, in true sense of humanity, you should do good for others not because of religion or some religious teaching, you are doing this because you believe that it is the "right" thing to do, because you want to be altruistic, because it makes you feel good. In that sense, being an athethist is probably the hardest core of all "religion" or "way of life" because if I am wrong i may go to Hell. On the other hand, if you believe the Bible, you can be a rapists, a terrorist, but just right before you die, you tell Him you are sorry and boom, you go heaven. What a load of crap in my honest opinion. (not that i believe in after life anyways, but that concept bothers me alot). |
If it took a teacher to tell you not to hit other kids, why wouldn't a sage be just as resourceful? So your double-standard could satisfy an imbecil, but I am not one.
Whether you go to heaven or not, from a Christian standpoint, you'll realize it has nothing to do with deeds. But you don't know the religion so you judge it on your lack of knowledge. Learn first, then judge. Salvation in christianity is a gift, it is not based on good deeds.
Ephesians 2:8
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

As for being saved before you die, that's the whole idea behind the faith, in that even if you were guilty of the most horrifying sins, that God could FORGIVE you. That's the point. As for sinning because you'll be saved anyways, the bible is against that... again learn.
Romans 6: 15
15What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. 18You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
