What are you talking about ? You don't believe Babylon ruled Judea for 70 years and later failed in 539 BC, that Jesus existed and was later crucified and that Romans destroyed the Temple of Jerusalem ? Im sorry, but these aren't fictional events, they are historic facts that were correctly predicted by prophets in The Bible many years before happening. And if you deny these events ever happening, i'll just have to point a finger at your post and hysterically laugh at your ignorance of the most basic history

I don't see what Australia has to do with this topic, but whatever...

We have 0 contempory evidence of Jesus. All accounts of this Messiah came 40+ years after his death as hearsay evidence. Astonishing when you consider that people only lived 29 years on average at that time period.

This is not a historical fact at all and pawning it off as one is completely fallacious. I realize that may be a shock to you, because of the misinformation spread of his existence, but I'm here to debunk that as what it is - nonsense.

why would anyone believe in a book someone wrote? even my medical textbooks are full of error, and these are heavily researched evidence based book... We don't even know who 'really' wrote the bible. Probably some guy trying to make some quick cash on sheepish believers of their time.

Because there's that odd chance that _those_ who wrote the book were divinely inspired.

Recently came back from San Francisco, on the street there was a guy in the street preaching about Christianity; ppl looked at him weird and treated him like a mad man next the the subway station. Ppl did the same back in the days and were mostly treated with respect... so who was divinely inspired again?! times have chance, sketicisim, individualism, and critical thinking is probably the worst enemy to religion. Who would believe me if I told them I split the Red Sea in half and i can communicate with God? i will probably get treated like a mad man. Stories in the bible sound like fairy tales anyway u look at it. Virgin Mary?! LOL..who's to say the hymen was intacted, she got creampied by someone

That made me lol

It's extremely offensive and disrespectful actually

It genuinely made me laugh, only because I've never seen anyone put it so bluntly.

Despite how he put his point accross, he has a valid point, she would of been impregnated the traditional way, weather she was rapped or simply had sex. I'd be willing to believe these two things....unless some how back then they had the tech to be able to artificially inseminate her....but that would be to much of a leap to make, wouldn't it?  Some times the simplest explination is the  correct explination, so no need to over complicate things.

As for the highlighted part, it's the internet, most specifically, it's a thread dealing with religion, such comments will be made. I'd suggest swallowing a cement pill or simply ignoring these threads, your choice :)

I can see that the omniscient Creator of Universe definitely needed some ''tech''to impregnate a woman while keeping her virgin... it's not like he's God or anything...

As for the highlighted part, that's exactly the reason why such comments shouldn't be made. But as long as despicable people exist, they unfortunately will be.

The basis of your claim is based on the assertion that god exists, since you have made an incredible claim; please provide the proof for your claim.

I'd like to propose an idea, if 'God' is 'omnipotent' and created adam from dirt and eve from adams rib, then why not create Jesus in the same fashion?

There is no need for a human vessel, surely 'God' could have created Jesus as he did adam. The people of the time would have been shocked but pleased at the presence of their god, and yet this was not the case.

Side note:

I have no doubt that A Jesus did exist, so let’s propose this secondary idea, the Jesus of the bible was not 'Gods' son, nor was his conception anything different from any others in his time, he was just a normal man. A man with ideals, good ideals, such strong ideals that he voiced them in public. He's ideals conflicted with the king who ruled, so much so that he was cought and executed. his ideal while alive resinated with people and developed a following, when he died, he died for his ideals and became a martyr for them. Among his followers their resolve in his ideals was cemented and began to spread his ideals but in doing so the Jesus of the bible was created.

Now we know from History that folk stories have some times drifted from their origins making them seem more spectacular than they once were, it is a strong possibility that such a case could of happened with Jesus of the bible. So it would seem more logical for this to be true as there have been martyr's in modern time just as Jesus was in his. Rather than take a leap of faith and start talking about a supernatural being performing supernatural acts despite no such phenomena actually being observable in our modern societies. Keep in mind pretty much every civilian has recording devices in their phones. Kinda odd that more supernatural phenomena was happening so often back then , but now with the advent of recording technology this phenomena is almost non-existent, no matter how much people try.

Food for thought, so take it as you will :)

Well, that so called "omniscient Creator" couldn't apparently create a world without evil but with free will. So yeah, it looks like the so called "omniscient Creator" has to abide by laws of the world. And laws of the world state that for this Mary to get pregnant, she must've had a sperm penetrate her. The only way for her to have stayed a virgin during pregnancy is if she had someone jerk off on her private parts without penetrating her. Or something along those lines.

"Which is more likely: that the whole natural order is suspended or that a Jewish minx should tell a lie?" David Hume

God didn't create world with evil. Evil is absence of good, and that comes from human free will, which is 1 thing God doesn't have a control over. Evil comes from humans, not God. And the fact he created the very fabric of our existence tells us that he doesn't have to abide any laws from it. That's like saying a machine made by man dictates the man's functions, not the other way around

You're trying really hard to fill in the blanks. If god were all-powerful, he could've just as well created a world with free will and no evil. So he's not all powerful. (Of course, it's ridiculous that I should say this; after all, there is no god to begin with). "And the fact he created the very fabric of our existence tells us that he doesn't have to abide any laws from it." That's called begging the question. Needless to say, it's not a good argument. In fact, it's shameful to even consider that an argument.

And it's not like saying a machine made by man dictates the man's functions, not the other way around. It's like saying that a machine made by man must obey the laws of the physical world around it.

1. I'm a little confused is 'god' omnipotent or not?

If 'god' is omnipotent then he has absolute control over our free will, which means he also has control of good and evil however they came about. Also I thought the flood was meant to reset the world by wiping out all evil, in which case he tried to control our free will but clearly failed, which then leads to the question, if 'god' is not omnipotent, then what exactly are his capabilities, furthermore, this leads up to...is there any other 'god' who is more powerful than the god of the bible? I ask this because in the first two commandments, "1. I am the LORD thy God, 2. Thou shalt have no other god" This would of course imply there was at least another 'god' figure in the equation. Clearly 'god' establishing himself as lead of the 'club' was more important than "Thou shalt not kill" which was delegated to 7th spot on the 10 commandments, interesting that.

2. Again I'm a little confused is 'god' omniscient or not?

If 'god' is omniscient he would of already known that by creating man and giving them free will they would create evil, if this was the case and he was truly omniscient then he would of put previsions in place to avoid evil from being created which of course would mean a flood was not required to reset the world, but that's not what happened.  If 'god' is omniscient and saw everything that would happen including the need to flood the world but still went ahead despite what he already knows, would this not make 'god' incompetent or sadistic?, and if 'god' is NOT omniscient, then he would not have foreseen the events that would occur, which resulted in him trying flood the world to fix his mistake but ultimately failed, would this behaviour of trial and error suggest that 'god' is not perfect but prone to mistakes. Such a 'god' would be truly scary much more so than Iran or North Korea getting nukes.

I would suggest that ‘god’ is not sentient, rather the Universe is god, we can get rid of the term ‘god’ and simply say that the universe has provided the necessary materials for not only our galaxy to be created, but also our sun, our earth and the right elements for life. And when we die, we return back to our creator, the universe. This is why we do not observe supernatural phenomena as the universe its self follows a set guide line which is not supernatural, this has allowed physicist to create laws that follow their observations with predictive capabilities which inform us on how things can work. It’s an ever evolving field as we do not know how everything works in the cosmos nor does anyone studying those filed claim they do, and this is why these people are driven to discover the unknown, I guess we humans just have a thirst for knowledge.

Again, take my thoughts as you will :)

This reminds of a paradox of I read somewhere, it goes something like this….Can God make a rock so big He can't pick it up?

If 'god' can make a rock so big he can't lift it, then he's not omnipotent. If 'god' can make a rock so big and is able to lift, then he's not omnipotent. The key thing about this paradox is that it brings his omnipotence into question.

Lol yeah. See my post in another thread (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5066808) for a brief talk on these "omnipowers".
