And your point is ?? |
that people rather buy something new as something they already played just with new graphics and few other stuff. that's why odst sold more as anniversary edition. pretty simple.

Yes, games get price cuts and promotions as time goes by. Who would have thought capitalism works like this?!?! Such a crazy thought....the idea of markets creating deals for the consumer. *Mind blown*
AGAIN Again, since you didn't address it. "The main issue is you using a 10 year old remakes sales and comparing that to a mainline/heavily marketed Halo release. That by far makes this entire argument invalid."
This is one of the worst threads I've ever seen.
My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

GT5 alone probably made sony 500m$ not counting DLC. |
nice guessing but wrong.
If sold at full price, Sony gets about $300m
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2010/02/anatomy-of-a-60-dollar-video-game.html
Price drop was in October 2011: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/05/gran-turismo-5-officially-getting-update-dlc-and-a-price-drop/
Another price cut for the XL edition in 2012: http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-xl-edition-gets-price-reduction-now-19-99/
Total: ~$260m
Even with DLC it won't touch $500m.

I was about to post the same.
It must be a parody thread, right ?

if thats true than Sony made a $200m profit off of only one game plus the DLC's are still going strong.............You forgot to add GT5P so that makes it at a $300m+ profit even more AWESOME.

so you get your post *easily* adjusted down by about a half? wow, that really is AWESOME!
btw, you said "GT5 alone" not barozi.

all you say has one big flaw, you confuse "it sold a lot when it was reduced" with "it sold all those units because it was reduced"
see, yes halo 4 sold probably a lot for the reduced price as example in usa, but please check the overall halo 4 sales before reduction, then check how much it sold on a weekly basis, compare it with the sales halo 4 had with reduction, think about a holiday boost it would have gotton even without reduction and try to get an idea how much it sold only because of the reduced price.
i am sure it didn't sell more as let's say 250k in usa just because of the reduction, everything else would have been also a sale without it.
but you use the anniversary edition to have a proof, common...

revenue, not profit. or did you forget 150+ people working 6 years or so on it, licenses for the tracks and cars and the advertisement? (obviously the same problem for every game)
