Forums - Nintendo - EA sent ME3 on Wii U to die.

It may escape all the adults here.........but Nintendos main userbase is children.

Many parents only buy their children Nintendo consoles only.

A few more thoughts (all sales numbers from VGC).

* Compelation triologies can be risky. For example Metroid Prime 3 sold 1.63M worldwide on Wii while Trilogy two years later sold just 0.66M (with no sales listed in Japan).

Mike from Morgantown

Just one quick correction. Metroid Prime Trilogy was planned as a limited edition print and was never released in Japan. There was definitely more demand for it than what Nintendo shipped, but they decided to stick with their decision to keep it a limited edition (possibly in order to create interest and increase demand for Metroid games). So that particular argument is invalid.

True. But sales might hav been even weaker than expected for Triloogy as Best Buy blew them out for $20 at one point.

because Wii owners are so familiar with the series

I don't think we should even bother trying to understand their train of thoughts and just accept it as a pile of a LOLWTF.

It is irrelevant because the trilogy is being released on a DIFFERENT system than Wii U. Had the trilogy been announced for Wii U then we could say ME3 was absoluetlly sent to die. The argument that people would opt to buy the trilogy instead of ME3 for Wii U makes no sense, because if they had any intention of buying the WIi U version of ME3 one would have to assume that they are doing so because they dont have access to the other platforms that had all the games on them in the first place.

So they should screw the PS360/PC owners with a higher price...for what?? They wont do that cause they know it wont sell they are trying to make money. PS3 versions is at least being released later and really it doenst matter when the 360/PC version of the trilogy will be released as the trilogy itself has been available for some time. Yeah they should have sold Wii U version for cheaper, just like they should have done with ME2 for PS3. But here we are

It is not irrelevant, because they are sending a big message with the trilogy, buying ME3 for Wii U is NOT worth 60 dollars. They are changing the perceived value of the port, before people could though that the price of the game was fair, a little higher or way higher, now according to EA itself we are SURE that is a rip-off. Now people will wait for the game to reach the bargain bin, instead of buying it close to launch date, they are sending the game to die plain and simple, they are not giving it a chance.

you're looking way too much into this, how much of a chance did the game REALLY have? Really? How well did you think it would have sold prior to the knowledge of the trilogy? Buying ME3 for Wii U was never worth 60 dollars, period. I dont know how anyone in their right mind could have ever thought that the pricing was far. How well do late ports of games sell at full price most of the time? ME3 for Wii U is a game that simply doesnt make a alot of sense, trilogy or not, if you were a fan of  the series you most likely would have bought that game, and even if you hadnt bought it already one would most likely not get that version as it woudl be the most expensive anyway and not really adding that much to the experience.

You never answered my question about Ninty only owners. If they only have a Wii U why would the trilogy being released on a systems they dont even have deter them from getting ME3 on Wii U? Or do you believe that most of the people that were going to buy it are now not going to out of...principle??? I doubt.

And you're not looking into this at all. You just assume that EA wouldn't do something that doesn't appear to directly benefit them.

Imagine a court case where a man is accused of stealing money from his parents. The prosecution spends loads of time going over his motive, explaining that the son was a drug addict and was ostracized by his parents long ago. While the jury is in deliberation, one of the jurors refuses to accept that the man is guilty, saying, "Why would he steal from his own parents? It doesn't make any sense! Why wouldn't he just ask them for money?"

That's you. You're a juror who isn't paying any attention to the evidence or the motive. The accusation simly doesn't make sense to you. Any attempt to explain the situation is dismissed as a "conspiracy theory."

Want another proof about EA hating Nintendo?

FIFA 13 just released for the 3DS, the same game released last year with no improvement whatsoever over the already lazy PSP port we got last year, with NO ONLINE (PES already got online last year), with an ugly photoshoped cover and for 50 EUROS!!!!!
ITS THE LAZIEST EFFORT EVER AND ITS THE MOST EXPENSIVE 3DS GAME!!!!

Seriously EA, stop it, plz, its time to stop....

Children are part of the Nintendo userbase, but not the main userbase. Nintendo console are found in all age groups, from children to teens and adults. Because Nintendo consoles always have games for all.

The main userbase of PS3&Xbox360 are male teenagers, that is a fact. I don't know if Mass Effect is famous among this group.

Children are the main core gamers. Adults/seniors are the main casual crowd. The 18-28 male demo crowd are actually the minority. Im sorry to have to break this to you about Nintendo :P

PS3/360 is 13-28 male demographic as the majority.

But overall, this (ME) is for kids that only have Nintendo consoles.

What reason do EA have for not releasing the trilogy on Wii U other than having some kind of agenda?

You've been very vocal in the past about how the Wii just couldn't run versions of multiplatform games so it didn't get them, but we know that isn't the issue this time because the Wii U is already running the most recent game in the trilogy.

Disc space/cartridge space is an excuse you've fallen back on to excuse past behaviour in the GC/N64 days, but that isn't a problem now either with the 25GB Wii U discs.

We also have that tweet saying the trilogy is for "new players", and you're saying that ME3 on Wii U would only be for people who haven't experienced the series before (so... new players), put those two concepts together and you have even more reason to put it on Wii U.

So go on, what magical new excuse are you going to think up now, or do we finally listen to Occam's razor...
