It doesn't just matter to me. It matters to the community. If there is a mod favoriting certain users, and giving those favored members private information and insight, I would very much like to know who that mod is so I can make a proper report to the head mod. I think it's very unfair and biased for several reasons.

That said, I'm not going after mods, I just think that if that stuff is really going on it needs to stop.  It's a source of paranoia among the moderation team and will only lead to problems and tension.

We want to make this community better, not worse.

Didn't you have "connections" with Mods?

I'm sure you've also sent PM's to them and they talked to you about things going on.

Don't make it sound so shady, it's not necessarily favoritism.

huh?

ugh what an ugly accusation. I'll have you know that whatever friends I have on the mod team, I was friends with years or months before they even became staff. Heck, I was staff before they even became moderators. Take Mr. Khan for example. I've known him months before his mod position. And fate has it that we're actually going to be at the same convention in Ohio later this month.  The only person I became friends with while they were a mod was Machina back in 09, and he ain't around anymore. I don't know what you're trying to pull with that bolded question, but frankly, I take offense to whatever it is you're trying to accuse me of. Especially since the subject was already addressed, and the misunderstanding was already cleared.

Think of me whatever, call me whatever names you wanna call me, but don't make up lies about me nintendo pie.

I have no 'connections' with the mods. I was just banned 5 days ago If that's 'connections', it's pretty lousy.

You can't change spurgeonryan, just accept him for what he is. Once a spammer, always a spammer. The other day he posted in that thread over 50 times within an hour...that is not something that you can just wake up and do, that's something you are born with. The lack of spam threads means that spammers can't spam and their energy (or spamergy, if you will) builds up and then when a word thread appears something awakens deep within their souls and they violently erupt in an explosion of spam all over the aforementioned thread.

Or something.

Seriously though, I don't understand why people are complaining about spurges wall spam. Why would that annoy anybody? It's harmless. What I don't like about spurge is the excessive number of questionable threads. E.g. If I see a thread called 'Miyamoto hates Apple, come see why!! It's really juicy!!' then I automatically know its a spurge thread. Also, I cant help but think that he doesn't even care about the actual content of alot of his threads. E.g. He might post a thread about Uncharted 3 with 'New awesome gameplay inside! I jizzed!!' in the title, when he's never even played an Uncharted game. See where I'm coming from?

Do the mods still have the ability to check IP's?

I have a couple of users in mind who could do with a check.

Only admins can do IP checks. Torillian's your best bet

Can some mod tell me in discretion when my ban statistics get reset, thanks.

Bans stay forever, the amount of days will go back down after 4-6 months (depending on mod) if your ban free from that breach (trolling, flamming, spamming ect...).

So my last ban for trolling was in june, I'll be clean next month at the earliest right?

Nope trolling and flaming are considered to be in the same group of serious offenses. You need to be clean of all violations for the whole period to get a new chance.

Seriously, listen to happyD - he's got some very good and valid points. You really should have a sticky called "How to make your posts better/matter/count/whatevz". Me, I don't really know how to make a good thread. I usually make a thread about something I'm curious about and wanna know what other members think of.

And I like spurge. He's making great contributions in our Nintendo threads; it's like he's scouring internet to bring us news and rumors, and I know he really wants to make this a better place for VG news and sale statistics.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

spurge is great! it's not as if he bothers everyone, at least that's how it sounds here. as example i like hime exactly because he is like he is. but it should be obvious that users not like the average joe get more complaints because some might not like it but therefore i bet he also has more people who really like him compared to average joe. but it should be obvious that those people who like him don't have to talk as much about it as people who don't and that mods don't get messages ala "spurge is a great user"

and no clue why people dislike him because he is even postin on walls of none active users, why do these people even look at all these walls to see spurges posts there?

so, now you got one vote for him and his posting style^^

Axum and I, and I think all of the admins.

I'd like someone to tell me what's the difference between Spam of 2012 and Spam of 2007-9

The actual root of the problem are site changes that removed the things that made people come here in the first place. People who were more intelligent than the average video game fan. Data and tools got removed which made writing solid arguments either (almost) impossible or a chore, because it would take ages to compile data you previously had access to within seconds or minutes. Because of this, VGC basically became yet another site where it was easy for people to spout nonsense and get away with it, because it would take too much effort to shut them up. This led to intelligent people leaving at a higher rate than new intelligent people joining which resulted in a forum that has less worthwile threads to post in. Pineapple made a thread that showed how the bread and butter of this site's discussions, the sales threads, had notably decreased over the years. Part of this has to do with the generation fading out and the console wars settling down, but most of it can be blamed on the removal of tools and an awful site update to the forums that was essentially a downgrade. Thankfully, nowadays the forums work better again.

Admittidly, that's why I mostly stick to the Off topic forums lately.

Lot easier to get data on those arguements.

Now that Brett has mostly finished working on Gamewise, it would be nice if we could get a touch-up for this site. And by touch-up, I mean stripping away all the crap and rebuilding the legitimacy of the site through a legitimate staff and promotion of our content. We used to have several articles that garnered over 200k views. That brought in a significant amount of traffic.

I could go into another rant but I know that Brett will never do anything so I'm not going to bother.
