Duke's most recent game did 1.5 million.

None of the above.
Age of empires went from being one of the best franchises of all time (AoE 1&2) to being complete and utter fucking shit (AoE 3)
Turok went from being a fantastic FPS dinosaur adventure and one of the best games of all time (Turok: Evolution) to being complete and utter fucking shit (Turok)

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Keep in mind that the latest Duke title is multiplatform. |
Oh, then why didn't you include that number?
Mortal Kombat! It used to be a top tier fighter, not anymore. Tekken, SF, and Soul Calibur are all leagues ahead.
| Kresnik said: Have you watched that GT Countdown video? Not having a go at anyone here of course, but omg. I decided to watch it to see what reasons they gave for Ratchet & Clank being on the list - since "A Crack in Time" is one of my favourite games of all time, I was really intrigued what reasoning they would give. The reason was: "All 4 One". Fair enough, a lot of people didn't like it. But in the video he said something along the lines of "It's the same thing that happened with the Spyro series, they handed off to another developer". So, GT didn't even bother to do any research for this "article" then, since it was made by Insomniac. Uff, bloody idiots. |
Now that is positive criticism. Well as good it gets online. I like GT quite a bit but sometimes their reasoning for things can be severely idiotic.
OT: Not sure what franchises have fallen than much. I don't quite play the ones mentioned. Maybe Prince of Persia as Ubi's best teams are working on Assassin's Creed.
I have no idea what R&C is doing on this list. It had a solid trilogy for PS3, and two great titles for PSP. All 4 One sucked but that doesn't mean the franchise is ruined. And if they're complaining about innovation, have they heard of the upcoming Full Frontal Assault? It's a pretty big change for the series. Also, they didn't hand Spyro of to another developer, Universal owned the IP, and while Insomniac worked for Sony; Universal wanted the franchise multiplatform. Same thing happened to Crash.
Other than that, I agree with the list. I would also add Rockband/Guitar Hero and Mega Man. All those franchises were destroyed by a nonstop barrage of titles. After MML3's cancellation and the way Megaman was portrayed in SFXT, I don't see any hope left for the blue bomber.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

He did. PS3 and Xbox360 versions are listed separately since he's using VGchartz as a source.

LOOOOL! I looked over that thing like three times and never noticed. xD
Replace R&C with Banjo-Kazooie, and move FF to the #1 spot since we've known since 1996 that Sonic has gone off a cliff, so no point in continuing to beat a dead horse.
Personally I'd put Zelda in the #10 spot myself... the last 4 games in the franchise (TP, PH, ST and SS) have all been underwhelming for me and have gotten progressively worse with each installment to the point that I no longer care when the next one is coming out, sad as that may be. If there's any franchise out there that's in dire need of a reboot or refresh, it's Zelda.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Duke Nukem 3D sold over 3.5 million copies. Keep in mind that game was not sold through retailers, rather one of the earliest forms of digital distribution.

I would add MS flight simulator.
It used to be an event when the new version came out, and I happily paid $80 for the gold edition of FSX. After years we finally get Microsoft Flight, a crappy freemium version which pretty much throws away everything that made the series great. No wonder development for it has been cancelled already.
