Sonic 2 was the first game I ever completed and then it fell steeply, until Generations which was a great game.

I chose Sonic because I preferred him to Mario and look at where we are now. Sonic rules, but his games don't anymore.

crash bandicoot... not only was the game legendary and one of the most popular games in history. it was also a huge seller, the four games on PS1 sold 22 million! and look at the franchise now...... this saddens me :(

I played Sonic 1-3, but then skipped some until Adventure Battle 2 on GC, but it wasn't classic Sonic. Generations got back to that to a degree.

Take out Diablo and replace it with Command & Conquer.  That would screw your current poll results but I believe C&C is much more fitting title for fallen game franchises since EA bought out Westwood.

I think final fantasy was among the biggest of companies to fall so far with final fantasy being called good at best while final fantasy XIV was a massive fold and waste of money that didn't even come close to meeting the standards of final fantasy XI when it came out.

Square Enix go back to the games of your gold years and find out what made them so great so you can bring it into the HD era.

Final Fantasy I'd say. It is not only because of the games themselves but the entire situation surrounding them.

This is often repeated, but in the 90s, Squaresoft was at an impeccable level that rivaled (or exceeded) Nintendo in that their games rarely did you wrong, and you would have full confidence that whatever you bought from them would be good.

Maintenance at such a high level is impossible for any entity; no one can stay at the top forever.

HOWEVER
When they became Square Enix, other lesser franchises disappearing under their watch would hav ebeen reasonable. But if any franchise were to retain that magic that made Square great, it would have to be Final Fantasy. As IPs fall by the wayside, they had to have at least retained the excellence of that one series. Granted, Nintendo recently let Zelda slip up, but they have tons of other games, but FF? Unexcusable.

Now, people LAUGH at the series in disrespect. After playing several entries, I would've never imagined that.

The other games listed in this poll, I am not surprised. Things like Bomberman and Silent were never really SUPER popular to begin with. Sonic games are still pretty good; they have at least 1 solid one every 2 years.

I was thinking Star Fox since Nintendo basically forgot about it.

The franchise that's fallen the most in my opinion is Tony Hawk. The first three games were brilliant and now the latest games are nearly unplayable. I would actually rather that Activision killed the series off instead of watching them give it a slow and cruel death.
