COMMAND & CONQUER !!!

C&C 1, C&C RA, C&C 3, C&C RA 2 were outstanding games. Masterpieces and forerunner of the RTS genre.

Then EA jumped in, killed Westwood and failed to build it up again.

I assume you mean Tiberian Sun and not C&C 3, since that game was well after Westwood had been dissolved.

I don't see the C&C fall from grace as bad as some people make it out, to be honest. Sure, Tiberium Twilight was an abortion and I could do without this awful browser game.  But even without Westwood (some of them stayed on at EA Los Angeles I guess) - I thought Generals, Tiberium Wars & Red Alert 3 were enjoyable RTS games.  Not as good as Tiberian Sun or Red Alert 2, no, but not miles off either.

Each to their own I guess.

I can understand those people who voted for Diablo. Diablo 3 with its real money auction house (and item drop frequency, strength and durability designed around it) along with always-online-DRM (and lack of a pause button along with lag that can kill you) is a slap in the face.

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

For me those things were minor. Diablo firstly and foremost lost its identity as a game, it was a dark and challenging dungeon crawler and now it's just a  good hack and slash rpg and nothing more. I hate the fact that you have to play the game a couple of times until it becomes challenging.

But when it comes to the DRM, i agree with it. I think its a step backwards for gaming BUT on the other hand PC gamers don't deserve more respect than that. They are a market you cannot depend on and I agree that companies have to take every measure to keep them from being (not all of them but the big part) thieving tricksters, no matter how negative it is for gaming.
