There are so many directors and so many films out there that chances are if you know one by name, they aren't exactly underated. Some people are just naming really famous directors that they like.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.
a director no one knows outside of some countries because they don't work for hollywood getting enough advertisement for their directed movies to get worldwide recognition.
but not people like george lucas or spielberg. is it even possible to get more worldwide rewards than these guys? (except maybe some not won oscars)
€dit: i had a name in my post which i took out because i didn't think he is the most underrated i just had that as example of a very good one almost no one will know because he doesn't work in hollywood.
every other director besides: steven spielberg and george lucas are under rated. there are a lot of good directors out there who do not get the recognition and praise of lucas and spielberg.
Edward Zwick he is best known for Glory (1989), The Siege (1998), The Last Samurai (2003) and Defiance (2008).
John Carpenter is the all time underated director. For such great quality, appart from Halloween his movies never saw the success they should especially Big Trouble in Little China. Its a travesty how somtheing like The Golden Child can gross higher.
Also James Mangold, his movies do well, but he isn't a very well known director.

| oldschoolfool said: what about michael mann. The director of heat and I think he was one of the creators of the miami vice T.V. show. |
Michael Mann is not underrated.
