Isnt 40k for Max Payne 3 a bit...low for the series?

The PC version is far superior though so no surprise I guess. My friend was playing it on his PC, lucky bastard.

To be fair, it is the 3rd and 4th weeks for the series in EU and US respectively. Total are in the 250k. Still, no AC or Batman AA.

That was really why I asked, but alot of the reasons I wasn't looking at were mentioned. So, PS+ deal, 2nd hand games, better price, DL content, and so on and so forth.

Not necessarily, Wii/360 owners might be buying some PS3s now, especially Wii owners where the release schedule is drier than MBP's private hole.

Paine, Pain...it's Payne to you, good sir!

Truer words could not have been spoken.

Probably to do with the psn+ deal. Back in NZ I know 1 person who said he bought a ps3 due to the psn+ deal. Then again, maybe people were excited about sony's new IPs (more so than xbox or nintendo) - I understand TLOU is very popular right now.

Most of these games, except FIFA, are games pure Sony fans would play, games previous owners would buy. So what are the recent PS3 purchases explained by?

Are these just replacements of the old PS3 model? Is it the blu-ray??

The consoles are very very old. With few exceptions the only people who are still buying consoles in western markets are more casual players who have waited this long to get the console. The more casual gamers, are usually big fans of some other activity, hence why sports/racing/casual shooting games like nba, fifa, mlb, need for speed, gran turismo, call of duty, and battlefield are holding up very well, while sales of more "typical games" like prototype, starhawk, mass effect, are dropping like a rock.

You need to add "pre-owned" to you poll, because in general from my knowledge people buying a PS3 or 360 this late in the game (as a new customer not replacement or whatever) are doing two things:

a) buying older games pre-owned at much cheaper prices to build their library at lower cost (this is one of the reasons game developers dislike used sales so much. With PS3 in particular pre-owened is a very safe option as the Blu Ray disks are much more durable than DVD.

b) buying maybe one or two big more recent titles (which is why you see CoD or whatever always looking so high in most weekly charts)

So they're playing games, but a lot of them they're not buying new.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Final Fantasy versus 13 is getting a release date soon. "Believe it"

No wonder next gen is going to lock the used games. Companies want to sell their games as new. But I hope they don't raise the price over $60 otherwise it will piss many gamers like me.

The WiiU has been confirmed that this won't happen.

OT- People can buy games from the 500+ back-catalogue of games. I know when I got my PS3 last year, I got 2 Rathcet and Clanks with it, and also Uncharted 2.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The only company being rumored to block used games is Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo are not involved.

@Reasonable. I know :( Sadly, I can't update the poll. I should have put it in there, especially since I'm such a buyer... smh @myself. I've been so used to reading HW/SW in terms of retail sales I failed to see the reality of it. haha That's the downside of habit I guess. I agree with all your points btw.
