The like button has a bit of a bad reputation. As long as we don't act upon it, it's fine. There definitely should not be a dislike button, and we wouldn't be sorting by number of likes or anything; it's just a way for the poster to know that their post has been appreciated. Here's a forum that uses it very nicely: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/63913-abbreviation-translation-for-n00bs/ (there could be some Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones spoilers in there). Anybody like that idea as it stands?

That would go for Gamewise Forums as well.

Actually if RolStoppable or another active veteran who knows what has been going on this past year would come in here and give their two cents It would hold more weight. Just like some other members who are gone now you are toooooooooo one sided, and not willing to make any concessions. You all ( along with Nordlead) had years of molding this site how you wanted it and it failed! The evidence is right there. Most old members left before any of the new members or lax rules started, even before gamrrewards or myself. So your theory is like a bucket with holes...understand where I am going with this? You all had years!!!! to push your agenda and the site became less and less popular.

^_^ pats khuut little khuutra on the head and sends him on his way back to gaf ^_^

This post is so vague. Why don't you give specific examples & details to support what you're trying to say? I'm not even sure what your main point even is. It seemed all over the place. Try to focus on one point & give details to back it up. Not just some unfocused lump of setences saying Khuutra is wrong.

Please no radical change. I like the stuff in the OP but I think over the years VGC has had far too many overhauls. Maybe I am captain obvious now, because most people probably don't like change when they're accustomed and comfortable with something.

About sub forums as a daily visitor I only ever use Hot topics and I feel like I don't miss anything, but perhaps if you don't come here so often it would become overwhelming to scan through all threads made in the last couple of days, so it would perhaps be easier to catch up if you only have to search through the one particular sub-forum you are interested in.

I would like we had 6 sub-forums:

Gaming and sales
Nintendo
Sony
MS
Off topic
Web-site

Personally, I don't even know if we need something like individual company/platform sections. This is what I would think is necessary...

Announcements (always keep this on top, and keep it locked to where only mods/admins can create topics, and maybe even posts)
Gaming (you could potentially split this into Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, PC)
Sales
Off Topic
Website Issues/Suggestions

Something similar to this :

Sales

Gaming

Off-Topic

Website Discussions

Just four forums should be enough.

And functionality like colouring our text and changing their font/sizes.

If it's possible please change the forum buddy. It's ok if it follows us but make it smaller so that I can view it with any monitor.

I also agree with Khuutra, to an extent

Id like to add something for the forums discussion, ioi. Ive been thinking.

Can it be made so that when someone quotes a post, they only quote said post? Not the numerous other quoted posts? Man, huge quote trees can ruin threads and make it a nuisance to navigate.

Spurge. A 50 ppd limit would be bad. Real bad. Imagine that on E3 days? Financial days? Gamescom? Holiday sales?

Limiting people to 50ppd isnt something to stop spam, thats something to disencourage posting all together.

Just do not forget RolStoppable that with a stricter site you would be banned on a regular basis as well. No more favorites. Even if you are not serious newer members se you doing something and they think they can do it and are banned for it. Become cross and leave the site. But I do not think you actually care, do you? You just do not like me and would cut off your left arm to argue against me.

As for quote trees they are annoying. I just use the delete column button to get rid of them.
Also who else would be against a 50 ppd limit? More thoughtful posters usually do not go over that anyways and it would teach more active posters to pick and choose. When they run out then they are out of luck.

@ jason

People are just basically saying I am wrong. What is the difference?

Am I Jason?

I haven't seen what others have said. I'm just saying that your post wasn't really making a point or stating anything. If others are doing the same, that doesn't make it okay.

One thing that I definitely miss from the days of old is the plethora of options we used to have for the Rich Text Reply.

Colors
Font Sizes
Highlights

Aka all the options gamrConnect/Feed Writers have/had with making stories, but available to the general forum user. I miss colors...

Also, the ability to use the "Insert/Edit Embedded Media" function in OPs, as well as to use it after an edit (it disappears once you insert the initial post.).

A NSFW section that actually deserves that name and can only be accessed if you're a registered user and have a certain amount of posts or time spent on this site. hehehehehehe

Now for real (not discrediting the above though):

- I'm all for a sig limit. I know mine is already borderline and I tell others to not exceed my sig.

- Prediction League must come back. While I pretty much never used it, I think it's an important and unique feature of this site and I liked to look at the results back in the days. However I think we should do a complete restart and give every user on this site the same number of VG$. That way we know for sure who is the best who is not.

- Wall is one of the best features of the newer VGC era. It must survive. Also Hot Topics section and the forum buddy.

- HTML improvements: colours, font size

- Maximum amount of quotes (about 2)

- When someone is banned...Not the "this user's post has been removed" phrase. Maybe just a small tag in a corner of that person's avatar that says "banned" in red letters. There are so many famous banned members from the past and many of the ancient threads live from their Crazzyness.

- IM feature maybe ?

- The search function needs a major revamp. I can't even find my own threads when I type them in word by word. Always need to use Google instead.

Personally I don't have any problems with the current sub forums.

Agreed, I forgot about that, it was what made threads stand out, I liked being creative with a thread adding font sizes and colors.

It's actually not a bad idea when it's properly applied. Here's how:

Nobody has any ppd limits when they start on VGC, but moderators have the power to enforce ppd limits on notorious spammers on top of a moderation. Starting with 30 ppd, then 20 ppd, then 10 ppd, if the member in question is unwilling to learn. The limit is lifted once the member proves that he actually wants to contribute over the course of a couple of weeks.

Yeah, thats better. I could live with that. Would encourage good discussion.

As long as its moderated correctly, that would be great.
