Forums - Sales - Global HW&SW Up!(28st April)

BTW, Bioshock Vita is "on hold until Infinite is released".
That could simply mean what it says, but it could also mean it is getting officially cancelled somewhere in the future.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

Wii increase globally? Its almost half of the PS3 now! I'm sorry I couldn't resist...

Yes only 30-odd million to go!,sorry I couldnt resist ;)

Yeah, I know... Then again, the Wii was outselling the PS3 and 360 combined for a long time so my joke actually hits home. No one believes that the PS3 will sell more than the Wii. I sure hope so anyway...

Rol; which is worse, having a rough transition that leads to poor initial sales of a new platform or effectively killing an existing platform prematurely by dropping almost all support and leaving it hanging? In my opinion, both are poor options and both Sony and Nintendo need to work on solutions.

Alright. But I don't believe you. I could explain it, but it basically boils down to the fact that the PS3 would have to outsell the Wii by 100k on average every week for over 6 years for it to overtake the Wii, something which is unfeasible in a couple years, especially when PS4 is released...

And that's almost impossible. But, stranger things have happened...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I think that PSVITA is doing average WW, but In Japan is bad indeed.

I think that after E3 sales will pick up.

What are you basing that assumption on?  I personally think it'll do worse as time goes by.  The 3DS already has an established userbase (~18M) and people hardly buy two dedicated handhelds as the smartphone replaced the second one people usually keep in their pockets.  The fact that next generation hardware is just around the corner; the Vita will soon be forgotten by both gamers and developers alike.  Sony really should have released this thing a year ago.

If you say that "people hardly buy 2 dedicated handhelds", then it would mean that from the  220M gamers that have dedicated gaming handhelds (150M DS + 70M PSP), at least 170M (if not more) are the ones that would only buy 1 handheld gaming device.    So in other words, are you trying to tell me that because the 3DS has 18M units sold, the other 152M gamers have 0% chance to buy a PSVITA in the next 5 years??

The PSVITA right now is having the "3DS launch disease", and it will be "cured" when more AAA games hit the console. That is why I said that after E3 the PSVITA will begin to sell a lot better.

Those are 3 big games already promised for the system.

Assassins Creed was promised for the 3DS too, and after the mediocre sales in the first few month it got canceled. The Vita sales are much lower than the 3DS sales back then.

The developers of Bioshock said that the Vita game is in its pen&paper phase and the development is on hold until the Bioshock game for the big consoles is finished ... Probably we will never hear of this Vita game again.

Call of Duty is the only game on this list that has a small chance to be released in 2012 for Vita, and I don't think it will be a Vita exclusive, the 3DS will probably get a CoD game too (even the DS and the Wii got CoD games).

AC, Bioshock and Vita will only be released for Vita if Sony give some big bag of money to the developers.

Xenoblade has done very well in the US so far, despite NoA's efforts to sabotage it.

No maths again TOP30.
