Any thoughts?

The French Election is pretty intersting as both extremes grow in pressence gaining huge ground.  Interestingly the fringe right candidate holds the majority of the Youth vote.  Hollande seems to be in the same, if opposite problem that Mitt Romney faces.  With runoffs it's going to be all about who can convince the losers to vote again.

The Greek elections were announced for May 6th as well which should be instresting since the pro bailout parties are slipping in popularity quite quickly it seems like a coalition government of many parties will be needed.  May even end up with a non-bailout led government that overturns what has been accomplished.

Two very interesting elections to watch in my mind.

South Korea's election was today as well. Last I heard, the ruling party was retained due to fears of North Korea.

If the Greek government falls all hell will break loose. While the current situation sucks for Greece the other situations are probably even shittier.

Yeah, and the scary thing is just how shitty the current situation is.  Didn't think a developed nation could end up in such a situation.

The Greek elections will be very interesting to watch. Whoever wins will have a lot to try and fix. The people will demand a quick turnaround of their current fortunes. How long has the country been in recession for now? I have to admit it's not a job I would want to go for?

Ah, coalition governments... They really get nothing done, being towed and tugged every which way and never fully committing or deciding.

The London elections are coming up as well. Less than a month to go now. It's pretty much a two-man race between Boris Johnson (sitting, Conservative mayor) and Ken Livingstone (Labour, former two-term mayor). It's looking like Johnson will win only because people despise Ken Livingstone for being practically a crook (enormous amounts of tax evasion) and sympathising with Arab dictators.

As for France, Hollande is the worst thing that could happen to France. It's already straddling an uncomfortable barrier between free markets and a controlled economy, and Hollande is going to pull it off the fence onto the socialist side and break its neck while he's at it. 75% top tax rates and absurd spending plans. He claims he's going to balance the budget by 2017, but that's pretty much an impossibility. However, he has this election in the bag, so I really hope I'm overreacting here.

The Pirate Party is at the moment at 13% here, which would be the third strongest force in our political landscape.
Our 2013 elections should be fun to watch.

We in germany have some elections in state-parliaments. At March 25th one election was held in the Saarland, in may follow elections in Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia. Pretty interesting is, that the pirate-party seems to be pretty successful and may enter each parliament from now on. An much more established party, the FDP (german liberals, they are very free-market oriented) on the other hand failed to enter the parliament in the Saarland and may fail in the coming elections too.

The Hong Kong election just ended last month (though it was not a public election just like how Austrailians do it).
