Forums - Nintendo - What would you want Nintendo to make better with an eventual 3DS upgrade?

Goes to look at controllers.... OMG you are right..  I believe you solved the mystery of why some of their systems fail.  Now the big question...  Was there a select button on the Virtual Boy?

*Theory crumbles*

a detachable, touch-sensitive, cpu-containing top screen would be great to substitute as a tablet. Well, maybe not as a 3DS upgrade, but for the future gens that would be nice.

3DSXL with a larger display, smaller bezel, thinner form factor when closed, improved 3D viewing angle, second analog pad, higher capacity battery, improved ergonomics, $199 MSRP.

Not yet. The N64 had a second D-Pad like structure too, and failed to beat the PSone. Perhaps we simply need to amend the rule to say "A minimum of one select button and a maximum of one D-Pad."

Alright the new model would be ideal if it had the following features. 30% more battery life, an upgraded 3D screen I am sure Nintendo has been improving the glasses free screen tech. The new controls analog etc...etc... NFC built in to the device. If the device retails at 250$ then I would also want to see more internal memory and maybe 3G capabilities but that is an unrealistic dream.

Second Circle Pad
Larger screens
Better shape for a better grip
Improved battery life
Improved 3D

2nd circle pad and DS lite and way better battery life at least like DSi XL

An interesting experiment with any redesign would be to also launch a version that has the position of the d-pad and the left circle pad switched around. I am pretty sure that there are plenty of people who are mostly interested in playing classic games and 2D titles on a handheld, so putting the d-pad into the natural spot would make the 3DS much more appealing to these people. Just because it's feasible to run 3D gameplay on a handheld doesn't mean that it has to be done.

Yea, I tought of it too. It would be really a good idea, madcatz has already released a contoller like that.

At the OP: Add the 2nd analog, a longer lasting charge, a larger 3D viewing angle if it's possible. I'm okay with dimensions.

I would love a bigger screen and MUCH improved battery life. Also i want the little wobble from the top screen gone, it doesn't interfere with my gaming, but i know it wobbles and the thought of it pisses me off.

Wobbles? What wobbles? I have never had a problem with my 3DS wobbling. But if that is a common thing then it def. needs to be fixed!

From what I read in my google searches, there are a fair amount of people with the top screen that wobbles (probably from loose hinges) around when open, its not too big a problem, its just a tad annoying.

I know if I had that problem I would return it immediately. Especially since I picked it up at full price. Had a cloudiness in my old DSXL (one of them) so I sent it back. Nintendo returned it to me twice before they got it right. They finally just sent me a new one because they could not get the screen to be bright like it was supposed to be. They finally called me and said we do not see what is wrong with it. I told them to open up another DS next to it. Finally they realized it was not as bright as it was supposed to be. They will work with you on stuff like that, but you got to be willing to miss out for 1-4 weeks.

I've already sent it to get repaired to Nintendo once already for a defective touchscreen (the screen kept flashin yellow and blue), they sent it back with a wobbly top screen... I'ts pretty much laziness on my part not to send it back again. I know Nintendo is good with customer service and will help (minus the time they refused to repair my wii since it had a modchip installed), but I'm kind of fine with it... depending how long warranty is i might send it back eventually.
