Forums - Nintendo - Will the next Zelda use motion control or the Wii U controller?

It's definitely using both at the same time... you heard it here first!

The Wii U controller also incorporates accelerometers and gyroscopes, so it doesn't look like motion control is going anywhere.

the PS3 controller did that too, but who would use them instead of actual buttons and joysticks that you are holding in the first place? , thats why no one uses the Sixaxis.

i say they should use these

1 - a tablet option where its typical controls and touch screen for item managments

2 - Wii-Mote and Nunchuck like the Wii

3 - a Hybrid option where you use both of them,  for Item Managment AND Motion controls, no one said you have to hold the Tablet all the time right ?

To be honest, I don't care if we have to control Link via voice commands (like that one ps2 game) so long as we don't have to use motion controls anymore. Having held the Wii -U's gigantic oversized Ipad turned controller at E3, I can not say I am looking forward to using it (classic controller will be my best friend in absence of Gamecube controller), but it at least will be a step up from Wii remotes.

I am sorry, I just don't care for motion controls. To me, it is a downgrade in the same way that a controller is a downgrade from a keyboard/mouse. Based on the Zelda teaser stuff at E3 it would seem that they direction they are considering involves heavy use of the Wii-U controller which, like I said, will be a step in the right direction at least.

I speculate/hope that they will bring out a new improved version of the classic controller pro that has clickable analog sticks and a few extra buttons or something to make it more in line with xbox and ps3 controllers. If they serious about recapturing the hardcore market then this needs to happen.

We've already talked about this before: Tablet becomes the shield (via strap) and wiimote continues being the sword.

After enjoying the last Zelda I can say that going back to buttons-only will feel like a step back, at least to me.

That would be the best way to play it. Having the WiiU controller resting in your legs (for example) showing the inventory or the map while playing with the wiimote+.

That should work well.

I assume you have 3 arms or something like that?

For less developed boys there is a stand option for the shield.

Sorry but that sounds clunky as hell

You slash an enemy, your arm moves ---> Body moves ---> Pad drops ----> FUUUUUU~

We clearly have different play styles

But you could put the WiiU controller at your side, or in a small table in front of you (that is, if you can put the controller vertically).
