Forums - Nintendo - Will the next Zelda use motion control or the Wii U controller?

I say WiiU controller only. Many users have reported problems with Wii Motion Plus and Zelda SS (myself included), and judging from sales (I don't see Zelda SS going beyond 3M), I don't think they will be returning to motion control with the next Zelda. Besides, the more controllers they use, the more complicate the game controls will be. So to keep things easy and unique, I think they will stick to the tabled only with the next one.
In fact I would prefer if they come with a brand new remote with the WiiU. Wii Motion Plus simply doesn't work well enough, requires constant recalibrations, and it uses batteries for god sake...

After enjoying the last Zelda I can say that going back to buttons-only will feel like a step back, at least to me.

i say they should use these

1 - a tablet option where its typical controls and touch screen for item managments

2 - Wii-Mote and Nunchuck like the Wii

3 - a Hybrid option where you use both of them, for Item Managment AND Motion controls, no one said you have to hold the Tablet all the time right ?

That would be the best way to play it. Having the WiiU controller resting in your legs (for example) showing the inventory or the map while playing with the wiimote+.

Sorry but that sounds clunky as hell

You slash an enemy, your arm moves ---> Body moves ---> Pad drops ----> FUUUUUU~

no its actually , you take the Wii-U tablet and THROW IT ON THE GROUND! and use the wii-mote, if you want to change items you just touch the tablet and all

or maybe use the Tablet instead of the nunchuck and Wiimote

I lol'd at the vid, but I didn't get the rest of that first sentence

and yeah, if you're gonna use the tablet, it'll have to be the only thing you use. Grabbing the controller and putting it back down every time you need something = stupid imo

The real question should be; will the next Zelda have a lot of filler content?

We've already talked about this before: Tablet becomes the shield (via strap) and wiimote continues being the sword.

That should work well.

I assume you have 3 arms or something like that?

For less developed boys there is a stand option for the shield.

So you use the tablet as a shield while it is on a stand infront of you?

I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't planning to have us playing games with wii-mote in one hand and a big tablet in the other hand. It isn't practical and I'm surprised you can't see that.

That joke post passed right through you! So you wan't a real honest answer? I'll give it to you.

You hold on your hands both wiimote+ and nunchuk just like in SS, but the U controller is strapped on your arm with the screen facing away from you. Right now the tablet is just like a shield, move it towards the TV to bash, take out, etc. When you twist your arm, the  controller is facing you making it a perfect use of the gyro as a visor, if you twist and press a button the map can come out instead on the controller screen.
With this setup you don't have to worry about holding the controller, so inventory can still be used while holding the wiimote: twist your arm, press 1 and navigate through your menu with your free thumb (though you might hit the screen with the wiimote).

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I'm sure the next zelda on WiiU not using a motion control.
Next Zelda will focus on graphic and Pad controller. Wait... Right hand wii mote as a sword, left hand wiipad as a shield?? That's fantastic, lol.

Strap that to your arm?

No.

Once again, not practical. Especially when you have the nunchuk there to use as a shield.

Strapping the tablet on your arm is not a  great or even good way to play games. You are talking crazy talk.

There won't be Wii-U games where one person has all three of those controllers in their hands while playing.

Nintendo doesn't make games with shitty uncomfortable  controls.

Hard to say.

I kind of anticipate Wiimote for the main controls. The tablet might end up being incorporated like the GBA was in Wind Waker, just more.... robustly. Allowing a second player to dick around with the environment and whatnot.

That could be cool.

Stupid question.
