I got this and Modern Warfare Reflex on the same day, and while this isn't a bad game, it's merely decent, while MWR is really good.

IamAwsome said: One last thing is that the 1st Red Steel ws crappy. It's possible that gamers bought that with their Wiis at launch and realized how crappy it was and it scared them away from the Wii altogether. |
This is what I've been thinking for a while now. I imagine people bought the 1st Red Steel and where like "Wow...this is what FPS games on the Wii are going to be like? F*** that!!"
oniyide said: The original Red Steel was IMO a piece of crap, graphics were meh, story was meh, controls were crap and the reviews werent hot and it still managed to do more than a mil. fast forward, we have Red Steel 2 which improved upon the original in just about every way. Ok so there was no online but I believe a game should be able to stand on the strength of its single player and the original's online was not exactly COD caliber, hell its not even MOH on PSP caliber. |
You obviously have very limited(if any) knowledge of Red Steel because it did not have online gameplay. Funny how you dogged on it, yet you obviously know nothing about it...
It did suck though...

Conegamer said: What should also be remembered is that both this game and Goldeneye were released in the same week, so the sales should be counted together. When you do that, you have nearly 2 million, take off 400,000 double-purchases and there's at least a 1.6mil hardcore userbase on Wii, as is reflected with other core 3rd party titles. And this is roughly the same figure most "core" PS360 game reach, and the Wii version will do so with less advertising and lower production cost |
So two games on the wii added equals the average sales of most "hd" games? Sorry, either you are incredibly smart or your reasoning makes no sense...
So you are adding two games, one of which is part of the largest series of games this gen and the other is a renake of a timeless classic, and you add the sales of them to get a number you claim to be the average sales of an hd game? They released the same week as each, so should be counted the same? We should add CoD and GT5 and see what we get right? Where did you get 400000? Did you make this up as you went along?

Red Steel 1 sold well primarily because it was a launch game with lots of hype behind it.
Red Steel 2, while it improved on the original, was certainly not a perfect game and had it's fair share of problems. When you are making a single-player only First Person Shooter on the Wii, anything less than perfect is just not going to sell.
@mortono now that is a thought i could get behind.
OT i forgot about this thread I think im gonna make another, Sin and Punishment your next!!!!

Lisghtsaber as in Star Wars. You can't come close to that without at least being sci-fi/fantasy.

very little marketing, crappy first game made people question the sequel, and there was a better game out at the time.
