This is positive news for the game. The xbox 360 sales are more impressive than PS3 ones, 4 years ago if someone said Final Fantasy would sell over a million on xbox I'd laugh at them haha. Well deserved sales for a amazing game.

Please don't start that here. Why do you always put something like that in your posts on here? It lowers the credibility of your overall post.

I didn't mean to cause an argument, I just think people don't give the xbox 360 versions sales a due here.

But then again Microsoft expected the 360 version to outsell the PS3 one.

OT: Waow I'm so happy about it! I hope it will prove to other developers that there IS a market for JRPGs. You just gotta try at least.

There's a market for JRPG's, as there always has been. The main problem is that JRPG's as a whole, at least in consoles, have seen a decrease in popularity for the past gens. It wasn't never a genre with high sales or popularity in the overall panorama of gaming to begin with, except for a few restrict series like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts or Pokemon.

Exactly, last gen how many JRPG's on consoles crossed 1 million that weren't KH or FF?

It was only SO & Tales I believe.

On consoles? I think that's probably correct, unless any of the Persona games or the Dark Cloud games managed to do it as well. Even then, SO and Tales doing over 1M sales is mainly due to both being series that have been also synonim of the JRPG genre since the SNES era, which has garnered them much popularity as well.

It's pretty hard for any JRPG series to break into the genre and become a multi-million smash hit. I think that since the 16-bit era, only KH has managed to do that.

Edit - On the PSX, some series did manage to do some multi-million numbers, like Parasite Eve. And the first Dark Cloud on PS2 did manage to break the 1 M barrier as well.

So basically its the mid tier JRPG franchises that aren't doing as well this gen.

I really thought ROF might do 1 Million, but thats impossible now.

Can you think of any mid tier JRPG franchise that could still do 1 million?

To be honest, I don't see any mid tier JRPG franchise to do 1 million on consoles. Probably Parasite Eve on the PSP can pull some good numbers, and other JRPG's in the DS, like Lufia, can do well too. But it's pretty hard.

I think the only mid tier franchise that has a long shot in doing 1 M is Lost Odyssey if there's a budget edition re-release or something of the sort. Other than that, probably Demon's Souls 2, if it has the same or better critical reception as the first one (if we consider Demon's Souls 2 as a JRPG as well). Even then, they are only conjectures, at best.

To put this into contras, to trully explain how unbalanced are the sales in this genre, Dragon Quest X on the Wii is pretty much going to sell, in Japan only, more than the combined worlwide sales of every mid tier JRPG released this year

Still haven't got this game... >_>
BTW, has GOW3 been adjusted UP yet?

Why? GOWIII doesn't need to be adjusted up.

I posted this breaking it down on the GOW3 page. VGC has Americas at 1.39 million at the end of April. NPD for first 2 months has it at 1.28 million. First shipment to Canada was 250k and they had to have sold through that by now, ioi has said that first shipments usually last for about 4 weeks so it could be even more than 250k. It supposedely had the best opening for a PS3 game in Latin America, I'm taking that to mean about 50k-100k. So sales in Americas as of week 7 should be around 1.6 million.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

hmm I want parasite eve!!!... Kingdom Hearts? is that a JRPG, I don't genrize thing, I didn't even know what a JRPG was until I came to this site :P? but that won't come out for years I guess.
Dragon Quest X is basically guarenteed
Last Story Might as Well :D!... because Sakaguchi almost sold a million of LO, and that was on Xbox360 only.
I would say xenoblade would... but I don't think it will based on that semi-Xeno series hasn't sold well... and the preorders in japan D:. But I will buy it. :D 999,999 to go XD

Damnit... I can't troll it now...

4 ≈ One

Isn't Pokemon the top selling JRPG this generation though? Pokemon is a RPG.

EDIT: Just noticed it was for "Console". Anyways congrats to FF13. Even though the series have gone way too far from the traditional FFs i love, the IP still has a place in my heart.

3DS Friend Code:   4596-9822-6909

Congrats to Square and to ......darth lol

I can't wait till summer to give the game a try.

I believe the term you use when you must ignore the DS (and PSP) in order to feel better about the sales of a game is "home console". Portable consoles are still consoles.

This is exactly what Squilliam was saying, it's not enough for a PS3 game to be good, or to sell a lot. The fans must twist it until it is the best, or highest selling. Simply ignoring anything that stands in the way of this.

2nd place is now Fable II

Actually, chaos rings on the iphone is first, and probably xenoria on droid is second.

You can put a J in front of it, but it's not an RPG.

You can put a b in front of but its still spamming

You lecturing me about spamming LOL

Anywho that's my main beef with this thread and badgenome pretty much beat me to the punch.

Congratulations FFXIII bbut I don't consider it an RPG, and that's my opinion.

Whether you consider it an RPG is irrelevant, because it's still an RPG.

I will never understand the mass hate around the game. It's been cool to hate the game since E3 2008, and it's gotten way old by now.
