It seems to have paid off. Word of mouth is going to mean it's probably looking at 10m in its first year. Apparently the story is especially strong which is not something I was expecting.

I think the Switch 2 version will also do very well at retail during the holidays. I think it will probably the most gifted third party title on the sysem.

Almost 7 years and $200 million spent..... ouch.

That said, this should end up earning that back and then some.
I've only heard positive things about it online.

Like Otter said... this is going well above 10m copies sold imo.

Yeah almost everything I've heard about it is positive, so I do hope it's a profitable venture for IO.

I guess it just goes to show how costly modern AAA development has become; the stakes these days are high.

Money well spent in my book. I'm loving every bit of it so far. Each chapter is its own full on adventure. The blend of Hitman and Uncharted DNA scratches an itch that hasn't been reached for me in years.

I wonder if the IP licensing right are also evaluated into the development cost here ? Prolly cost them a fair penny

Genuinely puzzled at the 7 years development cycle. I wonder how much of that was due to licensing issues.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Yeah I imagine the Bond license wasn't cheap.

AAA games just take forever in general these days, 5+ years has been the norm this gen.

Assuming it’s built up from scratch: if the design is solid and the trunk is good, hopefully they branch it and make new games with shorter cycles.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Hence why exclusivity is a dying breed. If this was exclusive it would have sold less and make it harder to make profit
