Forums - Gaming Discussion - What a great time to be a gamer, don't you think?

Hey guys. I feel like writting something here.

So, I'm 31 years old, so I'm a gamer from the late 90s, when the SNES, the PS1 and the Genesis were my childhood systems. Today, as a Grown up, and having more ways to play games, I feel like we're having quite a nice gaming era.

The PS5, Series X/S and Switch (PC games as well) are releasing some very solid titles. It looks like every company is trying their best. Just look at that:

Nintendo fans are very pleased with the Switch. They just got the new The Legend of Zelda game, one of the best in the series according to them. And Super Mario Bros. Wonder is just around the corner together with a remake for Super Mario RPG. It was a great recovery from the Wii U.

Sony fans got Final Fantasy XVI early this year, and Spider-Man 2 is approaching. Also, not that far ago they had God of War: Ragnarök, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and the very anticipated remake for Final Fantasy VII.

Microsoft fans just got Starfield, probably one of the most hyped games from the gen. Also, the Series X seems to be a huge improvement over the Xbox One. Forza Horizon 5 was very well received, and Forza Motorsport is looking better and better with each teaser. GamePass is helping a lot too.

And the future is looking kinda promising. A couple of strong titles are on the work. I can't wait for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, PRAGMATA, Alan Wake 2 (finally), Final Fantasy XVI on PC...

So yeah, maybe i'm just too excited, but I think we're living a very healthy time for gamers overall. Do you agree, or am I exaggerating?

I agree. We get new games and older games are still available. So every day it gets better. It has been that way since the dawn of video games.

At 31 you can afford to buy the games you want to play, rather than having to beg your parents. I think that'll be a big part of the difference :)

and games have way more content.

As a gamer I have to say no. But that's only because as a collective whole gamers don't actually like anything.

Sometimes I play games and they are fun, but mostly I just complain about them. Thats my hobby.

100%

2023 has so many bangers.

All platforms have a decent library of games to boot.

In current landscape, as a gamer, my gaming needs have easily been met by incredible titles during the first half of the year already so there's little to complain here.

Industry wise, there's has been just as much bullshit practices pridely displayed than fair, creative and honest good practices by publishers/devs, so it's more of a mixed bag on that front.

But yeah, 2023 will prolly stand as one of the greatest of all time kind of year, like 2017 and numerous others

Meanwhile I currently have no hype on gaming in general, just killing time with some Pokemon and dozens of games there waiting to be played.
Seems like getting older is taking out a lot of the magic gaming used to have for me.

Which is mostly a bad thing.

Well, if I'm trully enjoying a game, I want it to last as long as possible.
