A lot. In 2017 it was around 1500$ I guess. Don't remember exactly but there was a year-end thread here on VGC where I posted my spendings. Last year I've stopped counting after I went past 1500$ mark, probably 2500-3000$. I work as a full time software engineer.

I'm too scared to even figure it out... so please don't ask questions like this :)

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I am not gonna indulge on how much my income is (but I do work in the IT industry) but I can tell you I barely use any money I get from my actual job on buying games.

95% of the money I use for buying games come from gift cards I get from work (PSN, Steam wallet, Amazon, etc) and money I get from sponsors.

Anyways, I started counting how much I've been spending since 2017.

In actual money, less than $250 a year. I rack up a ton of best buy points through paying bills, gas and groceries through their visa card. I'm making an effort to play my backlog so that's been helping in recent years.
this year however, I'm seeing at least $250 from Switch games alone and maybe another $150 from sony.

I spent $240-$280 in 2018. I funded that with a bit of work here and there, but mostly college loan.

So far in 2019 I spent $5 on Paradox Humble bundle, mainly for EU4. That will skyrocket a bit, when I buy my brother a gift.

This year i'm forced to buy PS plus ,Xbox live and NIntendo online thats 140 dollars then there I buy 1 or 2 games AAA digital every year this year I only bought Dead or alive 6 for PS4 which is 80 a 15 dollar gift card for Xbox games but will buy more Xbox games like I do every year though there indies or AA games on sale for 20 dollars I love free games they offer on both Xbox games with gold and Playstation plus for free.

How much I spend per year
300$ - 380$ every year I'm very cheap I'm also thinking of owning a lamborgini instead of gaming heh :)

So far this year only $25 on the Luigi's Mansion 3DS port

On a yearly average, excluding console purchases maybe around $200? I manage to find a lot of good deals from retailers and typically buy from Amazon which does discounts on some pre-orders.

Predictions for global hardware sales by end of 2017: PS4 - 70M. Xbone - 33M. Switch - 7M.

"There is a need for parents to touch children first." - Tatsumi Kimishima, 2017

I spend very little on gaming. I have a friend that games more than me, so I borrow almost every AAA release from him. But, even when I was buying games, I probably only purchased 2-4 new per year, 4-6 used, and resold nearly every game after I stopped playing it. I also sell old hardware once I'm not using it anymore. I'd say that, counting hardware, and net of resales, gaming probably costs me an average of $300 per year.

I used to take a lot of pride in having net gaming software annual spending of less than $100. But, that required me to stay way behind the release schedules, which I decided to stop doing. I've also gotten lazy about reselling. Sometimes I sit on games for a while, and they drop in value significantly before I sell them. So, my software spend is probably a little higher than that now, even with all the borrowing.

I'm back to buying every major console (after skipping PS3 and Vita), so that's probably costing $200 or so per year on hardware, on average. But, with Ninty leaving the dedicated handheld market, I should be able to bring that average hardware spend down a bit going forward.

As for my income and how I get it..... I own a small residential remodeling company. I make roughly $100k per year.

Way to derail the thread with a needless, incredibly long list.
