Forums - Microsoft Discussion - So I've been replaying the Halo franchise.

I recommend checking out Halo Wars 1 and 2. Both are great games.

If Halo 6 can take the single player of Halo 4 and the multi player of Halo 5 it should be great.

I didnt like it. It felt like if you were controlling some plastic manekin. Still feels like it. Weapons feel like plastic toy guns. I adored Killzone because of the lazy controls you could feel the weight of the guns.
My friends always made me play deathmatch. I didnt like it tho I was kinda good at it.
Then, in my work, there was a pirated copy intalled in some Laptop of Halo CE. Bad graphics (because of low capabilities machine), playing on the touchpad... But damn, then I felt the story... I went running to the store and got a damn Xbox One (i never had any other xbox, in fact i despise microsoft), Halo MCC, Halo 4 and preordered Halo 5. Best damn good choice in a long time. I regret nothing. It was a totally new universe for me to explore.
I am waiting for news on Halo 6 (even tho 4 and 5 are not as good as the first 3 imo).

Halo 5 graphics are kind of a letdown after Halo 4 unfortunately. They lost Corrinne Yu, their best engine designer, around the time they started Halo 5 and it was a devastating loss for their technology team. Halo 4 honestly looks better than Halo 5 in some ways. Here's hoping they were smart and made a new engine for Halo 6.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear the series finally won you over. Still one of my favorite series even though Halo 5 singleplayer was disappointing.

Well that's disappointing. I was really looking forward to it. At least I'll go in with tempered expectations. It'll probably be a week before I can get to it. In fact, I'll probably play Reach first just to put off the let down a little longer.

Lack of couch co-op is the reason I never bothered playing Halo 5 but I'm having a blast with the pretty other games in single player. Is the story good, at least?

Same here.  I greatly enjoyed the Halo series, but what I liked most about it was playing along with friends when they would come over.  I played all of the mainline releases as they came out and replayed them on the Master Chief collection.  But, I completely skipped Halo 5 when I heard they eliminated the split-screen co-op.

Reach is peak FPS gameplay. Really underrated game, and for me it's Bungie's finest hour.

Reach is my favourite I was crazy to not miss every challenge for atleast 100 days. Firefight was also addicting for me. (I played some campaign missions more than 150 times). Also skirmishers are my favourite enemy.

Halo 2 singleplayer felt like a letdown because the weapons in Halo CE were so powerfull, when you get the pistol in Halo 2 you understand why the humans are losing against the covenant.

I don't know what I want for Halo 6, I really enjoy modes were you play against the covenant in multiplayer but I hate the prometheans. I never liked to kill robots in games feels so meaningless.

Even with Halo 5's short comings, it's still one of the best FPS this gen. 343 isn't too far off from making an amazing Halo game.

I never took the Halo series too seriously. It's just not my thing. However, I have played them and didn't hate it.

I quit after Reach due to a massive lack of confidence in 343, but having just got an XBO I was pleasantly surprised to find that I somehow have a digital copy of Reach. I've been playing some matches of that, since it's still my favorite shooter to this day. Getting ready to play Wars 2 soon, because I also absolutely loved Wars.

I was a BIG Halo guy in the Bungie years. 4 and 5 really do nothing for me, though, so I'll pick up MCC and stick with 1-3, ODST, Reach, and Wars. Glad to hear the series clicked with you!

They did give away a copy of Halo: Reach with Games with Gold at one point.

Halo Wars 2 is a solid title as well, not as refined as the original Halo Wars, but easily more fleshed out.
Sadly the Multiplayer component lacks population and is thus useless to me. (For both Halo Wars 1 and 2.)

I would like to see a return to Halo 3's multiplayer whilst retaining some aspects of Halo 5's multiplayer. (Namely map size and player counts.)

Halo 3 you would have power weapons, vehicles, power ups and grenades strew around the map, meaning you were required to learn a map and use strategy to gain and retain control over key map areas.
It just made gameplay far more interesting and strategic, something that was lost with later titles where you essentially just run and gun and maybe use a microtransaction card thingo.

I own every Halo game on every platform release ever.

That was a massive letdown not having split screen in Halo 5, but it wasn't the only crappy thing about it.
Halo 5 launched with no forge, no theater, no file share, no game modes like grifball and infection... And they pushed their Microtransaction, aka. Req packs which in my opinion Reqqed the game.

Plus the games single player was critically panned, ended on a cliffhanger, visuals just wasn't up to expectation, terrible marketing campaign... And the game released with a limited number of maps.
Now I can get that they were going to release a ton of content updates for free, but those content updates should have been in the game from the very beginning with new and fresh stuff coming later... And by the time those updates rolled out, I was already bored and moved onto other games.

Microsoft/343i massively dropped the ball with Halo 5 and deserve all the criticism they got.
The important take away from it all is that I hope Microsoft/343i took that criticism on and used it to make Halo 6 a much better release... And for christ sake I hope they ditch their lootbox/microtransaction garbage, it adds nothing to the game.

343i has been listening to fans about what they want for Halo 6, and I think the main stuff they already announced for it is the return of split-screen and a Master Chief focused campaign, so I'm confident that the game will be much better than Halos 4 and 5.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure they won't drop the REQ packs since it generated a lot of revenue for MS/343, but I could be wrong. Let's wait for what E3 has to offer for us regarding this game.
