I was just browsing through the database and I stumbled upon this...Here's the global hardware chart for the week ending 23rd December 2006:

X360 571,554 (+14%) 7,773,001
PS3 190,595 (-5%) 1,078,020

Pretty unbelievable! What was it like being a playstation fan back in those days seeing that?! It must've looked like there was no hope for the PS3. It's actually pretty amazing how Sony went from this to where they are today!



My prediction threads:

Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)

PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)

Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Halo 4 first 9 weeks sales prediction

PS4 to be down YOY in 2015

Yeah, do more research or apologize.

But anyway, it sucked. I didn't live in Japan and knew in March 2007 I wouldn't be able to afford one because I was a poor college student.



Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I don't think I even cared about the PS3 in 2006 (European release wasn't until 2007, and I didn't buy mine until a full year after) so it was much like any other day, really.

Probably the same as X-Box fans feel now.

PS3 is outselling 360, and 360 owners are just facing broken systems and a decision. Replace w/ a PS3, a 360, or a WiiU? Or wait for the next X-Box/PS4?

 

 

Damn I hate MS now.......So damn greedy, such damn crap quality, and they won't admit to the consoles faults.

I wouldn't quite say it's the same situation.  


a system just launched and hasnt had the chance to build momentum being compared to a one who has been one the market for a while and has more games+momentum. its not the same exact situation but people are making quite a big deal out of WiiU sales. they are not the best, but they are not bad at all, with the exepction of europe for now

Most of us are quite confident actually. We all know it won't be a Wii success, and it's still doing better than either PS3 or Xbox360 when they launched, so it's looking pretty good. And most of us keep telling ourselves that PS720 won't be a huge leap graphically and that Wii U will get most ports.

So yeah...
