so you see yourself using head tracking... as shown in the vid?

He's just mocking Turn 10.  What GT fanboy isn't, these days?

I can almost guarantee this will work like crap and you may use it once to try it then never use it again.  The EyeToy just doesn't work well without some big bright light to track, so if you are like the average adult and plays video games later in the evening in dimmer lighting, you're screwed.

Stop calling it EyeToy, it's Playstation Eye.

excellent feature, i want to know how it will work in game.

this is a first for consoles. i have a ps eye and cant wait to try it out.

i have a funny feeling if forza 3 used natal to head track it would be praised as a first for consoles and an interesting feature even if you didnt use it.

as its ps3 only, it all of a sudden becomes not needed!

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

the technology sounds interesting, but it doesn't seem that practical.

why would i want to look away from the monitor when i'm driving? will i actually be able to see the changes that are happening on screen to make this worth while?

i'm a peripheral junkie, but until this has been proven, i'm still not getting the pseye.

on a driving game/sim is useful to look at corner's apex and when you have other vehicles to your side (that is overtakings and starts).

i understand that it's useful to see car positions.

but, if you have to turn your head to look around then it makes sense that you're not even looking the monitor at that point... which seems wacked to me.

Oh I'm sorry.  They are so close to the same technology I interchange the two quite often.  PSEye it is, then.  And a maximum viewing angle of 75 degrees doesn't seem like much.  You can either set it to 35 degrees for close up chatting or something, and 75 degrees for farther away interaction.... also, it does not have any Infrared technology.

Basically it is an EyeToy that captures a bigger resolution and a better frame rate.

Maybe... we wont know until we see it fully ourselves.

I know that i want to give it a try though, GT5 is looking to have a TON of features.

it certainly does, 1000 cars to choose from, night-day, wrc, nascar, real life parts, psp connection, youtube upload feature, motion head tracking, i cant wait for final game.

This and the Motion Controller should give a much-needed boost to PS Eye sales.

It'll take much more than a camera gimmick in a game I don't like to make me buy one, though

But you have to admit this head tracking stuff sure sounds cool....

Could we just get an automated message for nightsurge and kowenicki on all PS3 threads? Just have it say "Looks dumb", "natal is better", "won't be implemented well", etc.? It could really save them a lot of time and effort. Well, time anyway.

OT: I'm not big into racing games, but the first time I saw this I thought it was one of the coolest features in a game in a while. Who hasn't stood up, moved to the right or left slightly, etc., to try and get a better angle, then to realize you're being dumb...now you won't be, and it'll actually work!

Nice.
A PC racer has done something similar ~3 years ago though

Head tracking as per the demo seems to mean head leaning rather than turning. I don't lean my head to drive, so why would I lean my head to race in a game? You turn your head to follow the road, but if the screen is only in front of you, how exactly is that going to help?

This could be great with 3d applications, but I suspect you'd need to render the games at 60FPS or so at least to take advantage of it.
