Metroid was big, Metroid Prime has never been big.

Metroid was never big in Japan. It's part of the reason it took so long to get sequels. The original game was hurt by being released as a Famicom Disk game. It took off in the West. The sole reason for the continued sequels to Metroid is it's popularity in the West.

The first Metroid sold +1 million and Super Metroid sold 700k, I consider that big.
