Is Metroid even big in Japan? I'm honestly asking this because I don't know.

Pikmin 2 seems to have flopped if the data is correct. 10k?

 

Metroid was big, Metroid Prime has never been big.

Metroid was never big in Japan. It's part of the reason it took so long to get sequels. The original game was hurt by being released as a Famicom Disk game. It took off in the West. The sole reason for the continued sequels to Metroid is it's popularity in the West.
