I hope it ends. Lets face it plenty of series need to die to make way for new experiences.

Yeah right less Call of Duty, Halo & Half Life games and more new experiences like Haze, Hour of Victory, Turning Point & Legendary.....

World War II seems to be a place for people to frag people guilt-free. It is considered a good war, and killing in that war has appeal. Add to that the COD4 engine, which people found great also, and you end up having something that is set to sell real good. It apparently survived Tryarch (however they are spelled) doing it also.

Seems like they have the new Madden or Need for Speed franchise.  They can put out a new version every year with a couple of upgrades and the fanbase will move to the next iteration.  As long as they don't put out crap like the latest NFS they should be able to sustain this for many years.  They also have 2 developers alternating every other year so they can keep things sort of fresh and have a full development cycle.

This is a guess (since I'm too lazy to look up numbers), but I think the COD5 Wii version is doing better too.

Just a guess.

There wasn't a CoD4 on the Wii.

Then his guess is correct! ;)

But seriously, CoD is making megabucks. No reason to break the annual release cycle here. I think Activision has a pretty good system here where they stagger releases from two different developers. It helps keep things a little fresher and the quality high.

It should lose steam the more it gets rehashed every year.

Key is to keep changing the focus and shifting to different geographic locations, with different scenarios.  By doing this, they would be able to still sell their older versions of the game.

Not really. The two different devs have two kind of tastes.

Sad the better games (valkyria chronicles, dead space, little big planet, resistance 2) are not doing better. CoD WaW just sucked, plain and simple, sad excuse of a campaign, multi player is lame. welcome back infinity ward
