I just want some bush back on this title statement or agreement. Is the world not fucked on multiple fronts in the near to mid term future. I'm not talking 2050 here, like this coming decade.

The world is indeed fucked up, and always has been, but it also has a ton of positive things going for it. If you cant find one then perhaps you need to start questioning your life choices.

As my mom used to say: We love you but honestly youre too much sometimes.

The world itself will heal itself of any harm humans do to it when were gone.

Less fucked than in 1938, but getting there again. Plus now we have climate change on top.

It depends on if you look at the short term or the really long term.  There are parts of European history where about 1/2 of the people died (or more), and about a generation later Europe was doing fairly well again.  There was also a really long period of time when the Roman Empire was essentially considered "the world", and then one day Attila's armies showed up and wrecked everything with very little resistance to stop them.  (Roman leadership was extremely incompetent at the time.)

So obviously, the world eventually recovered after the Roman Empire fell, the Black Death and other traumatic events, but no one wants to be in the group that has to experience this stuff.  I do think we are entering into dark times.  It's not the literal end of the world, but it's not going to be fun to live through either.

I can't prove you wrong.
Every era of humankind that we know of in recorded history had struggles. Those aren't new. Even your average impoverished person in a lot of industrialized nations has a much better life than people did before any running water or electricity.
Things seem so dire now because of climate change AI, nukes, and a population explosion globally. The world hit 8 billion people around 15 November 2022. And it's already added about 300 million more people to that. For comparison, there weren't 6 billion people until I was 3 years old in 1999 and there weren't even 3 billion people until 1960.
I don't think humans will destroy the planet itself, but we could destroy it for humanity to live on.

Try to think positively.

IE for me: I am a man in my 30s and still haven't been sent to war. Instead I get to live a comfortable life playing video games.

I'm going to take this opportunity to be very immature, and post this photo from my hard drive.
It hasn't seen the light of day since I found and saved it 15 - 17 years ago back when I was still a teenager.

Spoiler!

My conclusion: I don't know about the world, but Europe is definitely fucked, especially Germany.
