Would love to see the next 3D Mario (next year?) be Bowser's Fury style open world, but then another 3D Mario just a few years later that is 3D World 2. Get both extremes of Mario gameplay.

Also Eternal Darnkess 2, but bring back the first one too.

Obvi new Fzero and Star Fox games as well.

I know it was a direct sequel in an era of games with lower specs but man were we so lucky to get Galaxy and Galaxy 2 on Wii. Only about 2.5 years apart. Switch with its 8 years from launch to replacement got Odyssey and Bowser's Fury. So that's like 1.25 3D Mario games. More than 1 standalone game, but not 2.

I am so down for a big 3D Mario in 2027 and then another 3D World in 2029-2031.

PS5: 116 million (was 105 million, then 115 million, then 122 million)

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Switch 2: 120 million (was 116 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

yeah very true about that quick turnaround with Galaxy and Galaxy 2, reminiscent of the OoT and MM turnaround or Prime 1/2/3 coming out 2 years and then 3 years apart. I miss those days when we could get AAA games of major IP getting released just 2-3 years apart. Odyssey and Bowser's Fury are both incredible but yeah the drought of 3D Mario is a bit ridiculous at this point, it still completely baffles me how they didn't have 3D Mario ready to go on for launch day on S2.

Totally agree with your desired time schedule in this hypothetical world in which we also get a sequel to 3D World.

Maybe 1080 Snowboarding/Avalanche.
The snowboarding games feel like an almost dead genre. But they are usually very fun. Seeing Nintendos take on modern hardware would be cool.

To me, there are only two logical reasons why 3D Mario could be taking so long.

1. Nintendo was extremely confident in Switch 2 and wanted to give 3D DK, Metroid Prime 4, and some other games a chance to shine before 3D Mario.

2. Nintendo was considering another 3D Mario on Switch, or at the very least one around the launch of Switch 2 but it has been in development for a very long time with changing goals and a slow pace.

F-Zero: We haven't had a proper game in the series since the GameCube. I've been craving one for over 20 years.

StarTropics: Nintendo could make their own colorful, family-friendly, more sci-fi oriented counterpart to Tomb Raider and Uncharted, allowing us to explore an uncharted island with alien artifacts and various hazards.

Super Mario Bros. 2: I'd love to see a new 2D Mario game that sends Mario & Co. back to Subcon, complete with the whole mechanic of lifting/uprooting and throwing things.

Star Fox 64: Just take the engine from the recent remake and have the Star Fox team explore a new solar system whose forces are threatening the Lylat System.

Wholeheartedly agreed on all these, especially the last two.

I'm hoping the recent Starfox remake is a prelude to a new entry, kinda like how Metroid Dread followed the remake of Metroid II, Metroid Prime 4 followed Prime Remastered, and DK Bananza followed DKCR HD.

Diddy Kong Racing, keep the adventure mode and co-op adventure. Honestly, I thought MK this generation might have had a proper adventure/story mode but unfortunately no. But that leaves the door open for this I guess.

Super Mario 3D World. I can't believe it's been 13 years and they've not followed this up with another co-op 3d/2.5d mario title.
