Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Games That Could Use a Sequel

Some that immediately jump to mind for me: Arms, Pokken Tournament, The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (for home console… so Spirit Tracks doesn’t count!), Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee, Super Mario Sunshine.

(Here’s a concept for my dream Zelda game: Windwaker art style but without all the ocean travel. Give the game a more dire atmosphere, somewhat along the lines of Majora’s Mask, fill it with dungeons that are just as good as in traditional 3D Zelda, and make it as wide and open as Tears of the Kingdom.)

That would be awesome. While I think the next 3D Zelda should definitely have OoT Remake style graphics, cuz who doesn't want a BotW style open world with incredible next gen graphics, and people would be pretty disappointed if after OoT the next new Zelda didn't have awesome next gen realistic graphics like OoT. But  it'd be cool if Nintendo at the same time worked on a separate cel shaded Zelda. It'd even be fine if it was a smaller non-open world traditional style 3d zelda, whether it is direct WW sequel or just another cel shaded Zelda I don't care. Just make it as pretty as WW and make it a great game. Maybe just bigger islands and a bit less ocean. It can totally just be a smaller side game while the next open world game is kinda the main Zelda for this gen.

Astral Chain

Sin & Punishment Star Successor.

Astral Chain I thknk they said they wanted it to be a trilogy. 7 years later where is 2?  As for Sin & Punishment that genre has has a mini comeback and Sin is the best in the genre. Sadly Treasure is just a holding company now so they would not make it. Maybe Nintendo can get Platinum to do it. At the very least port Punishment to HD.

F-Zero GX; bring the series back to life with the same rock 'n' roll attitude and blistering speed, but with the chaos and insanity possible on modern hardware.

The Last Story; the first game was an excellent starting point that could really shine today with less limited hardware.

I had 0 expectations from The Last Story, and really enjoyed it.  I'd play a sequel if they gave us one.

A Paper Mario RPG sequel with gameplay like the first two games and references to the first three games.
Super Mario Sunshine 2: The vibes and gameplay potential are there for another game.
Super Mario Odyssey 2: The vibes and gameplay potential are there for another game.
Mother 4: A prequel would probably be better, but this IP is too awesome to only have 3 games.
F-Zero GX sequel

Oof! That’s a strong line up. All games I would absolutely love to see (though I think Mario Odyssey would be fine as a “one time hurrah!”. The game does everything so perfectly, I see no way they could possibly make further refinements beyond just doing “Super Mario Odyssey: More”).

Well do I have good news for you!

Oh man I forgot The Last Story! That game is excellent! Honestly my favorite Mistwalker game. Much more than LO and Blue Dragon. At the very least it deserves a remaster. Phenomenal game!

Super Mario 3D World sequel.

That game super surprised me. Wasn't interested in it for the longest time because I was like oh Nintendo phoned it in on the WiiU game and just made a 2d-gameplay 3D Mario instead of a normal 3D Mario game. But then I bought it and wow...maybe my favorite 2d-gameplay mario ever...at least right up there with SMB3 & SMW.

Would love to see the next 3D Mario (next year?) be Bowser's Fury style open world, but then another 3D Mario just a few years later that is 3D World 2. Get both extremes of Mario gameplay.

Also Eternal Darnkess 2, but bring back the first one too.

Obvi new Fzero and Star Fox games as well.

Yeah seconding both these, excellent games that deserve a sequel for sure.

Both could especially shine on current systems, with S&P ramping up the insanity to a whole 'nother level.
