Forums - Gaming - Graphics or Performance: You Can Only Choose One.

I'd prefer a game to look last-gen and be 60fps than have all the modern graphics bells and whistles but be 30fps.

in order of importance: 60fps > resolution > graphical effects.

Once it's hitting 60, and resolution is high enough to not be a blurry mess (at least 1080p) then focus on pushing visuals.

On PC and PC Handhelds I have used 50fps as a sweet spot sometimes as that still feels smooth to me but gives me more room to push higher res/settings.

Around the Network

Always performance. Always.

But lower frame rates don't bother me. We all played OOT, 007, and Perfect Dark back in the day, and we all gushed over them. I literally remember zero people caring or even talking about it. I certainly didn't. And to this day, when I hook my N64 up and game on my CRT, I can't tell at all.

Still, on my PS5? I'll take performance because well... graphics have stalled anyway. Might as well go performance in that scenario.

Depends - and if the game allows for choosing refresh rate, I often chose 50fps as decent frame rate that allows for better visuals than 60fps.
