Seriously... I wont deal with another Adventures, a new Star Fox needs to explore on modern space shooter genre. No need for 3d Zelda and Mario mechanics, thats totally off putting, we already have enough Nintendo ips to fill these blanks.

I am not against some missions on foot, but it would need to have its own identity, something that matches with the franchise. What I have in mind is all the main missions built on classic arwing progression with the classic universe map selection, but this time you can return after mission complete, which will unlock some areas for exploration. For example: After defeating the first boss on Corneria, you can have side missions around the city, like helping rebuild damaged areas, find some remaining enemies structures, gathering materials for weapon and vehicle upgrade, interact with the local community and even unlock side segments (on rail or all range) inside that area.

On foot combat needs to be something like bullet hell. You could have some hacking and stealth missions too like Sly Cooper

I too will not deal with another Adventures. I hate that game with a burning passion. I absolutely do not want to see foot missions in my Star Fox games.

However, I'm willing to make an exception if the any on-foot sections were akin to the gameplay of Sin & Punishment, which shares a lot in common with the on-rails stages of Star Fox 64.

That's a good idea if it is well implemented ofc, but being against on anything new just for the sake of traditionalism is counter productive. Theres not much to do with the franchise being stricted with the same mechanics from decades ago

Adventures hate, for me, is reasonable for its poor attempt to slap StarFox name on it by adding some bland and mediocre arwing sections in between a game that has nothing to do with the franchise thematic

StarFox has a lot of potential by giving new stuff to look forward. Trying free roaming (not only on-foot, but with the ships too) in a few levels, as long it maintains (and evolves) what was good on StarFox 64 as a primordial element of the whole experience, then it would be hard to people hate on it.

I'm open to innovation within Star Fox. I just want it to go in the right direction. Adding gameplay that completely changes the genre of game is not the right direction.

I love what Nintendo tried to do with the for-decades-unreleased Star Fox 2; that game was trying so hard to punch above its weight on the SNES, bringing that poor console to its knees to handle 3D stages on a 16-bit console. That game would be a solid blueprint on where to start on the next Star Fox game (Lord please let there be a new and original Star Fox game after this fourth reboot/remake).

Cant see what is so wrong in branching out the franchise in multiple approachs. We have so many examples with Nintendo IPs, like Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, DK and Super Mario adventure lines.

Maybe having a Star Fox game that is less arcadey and a bit AAA-ish is what the franchise needs to get the relevance it deserves instead of just being carried by its relative success on N64. If it has the same effect that BoTW did on Zelda, then that is even better bc Nintendo will be encouraged to pull even more games and we wouldn't be debating which is the right path bc both would work. A full arcade experience and a segment that expands the idea of some free roaming (and, ofc, being coherent to the franchise fundamentals).

I'm not sure if it's earlier in this thread or in a different one, but I said that I'd be down for a Star Fox roguelike. Take some of the ideas and characters from Star Fox 2, or just do a full blown remake of Star Fox 2, which, if you think about it, is a prototype of what we think of roguelikes today.
