Cant see what is so wrong in branching out the franchise in multiple approachs. We have so many examples with Nintendo IPs, like Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, DK and Super Mario adventure lines.
Maybe having a Star Fox game that is less arcadey and a bit AAA-ish is what the franchise needs to get the relevance it deserves instead of just being carried by its relative success on N64. If it has the same effect that BoTW did on Zelda, then that is even better bc Nintendo will be encouraged to pull even more games and we wouldn't be debating which is the right path bc both would work. A full arcade experience and a segment that expands the idea of some free roaming (and, ofc, being coherent to the franchise fundamentals). |
I'm not sure if it's earlier in this thread or in a different one, but I said that I'd be down for a Star Fox roguelike. Take some of the ideas and characters from Star Fox 2, or just do a full blown remake of Star Fox 2, which, if you think about it, is a prototype of what we think of roguelikes today.
