Forums - Nintendo - What would you like to see in a modern Star Fox?

As a follow up to my thread asking this same question but for an Ocarina of Time remake— What would you like to see from a modern Star Fox? What do you expect to see? I’ve personally only played SFAdventures and some of SFAssault, and really loved both growing up. (Especially SFAdventures!!) So, I’m fine with anything TBH.

BTW: According to the Nate(theHate2), reveal for a new Star Fox is imminent. It’ll land sometime this month with a Summer launch.

I'm hoping it's like Star Fox 64, has way better controls than Star Fox Zero, has many more levels than most Star Fox games, reintroduces Krystal but gives her backstory actual closure instead of abandoning it like Assault and Command did. And the soundtrack should be kick ass 90s rock.

Honestly? Just expand on what Star Fox Zero did. That game gets way too much hate. Just like Devil's Third, people and journalists insisted in playing them wrong. They tried to play DT as a third person hack and slash when in reality is a FPS with some third person action in it. And they tried to play SF Zero like a third person on rails shooter when in reality is a FPS on rails with a third person view for spatial awareness only.

If you judge a fish for its ability to fly... or something like that.

Hmm...

The Wii U gamepad being forced into the control scheme of Zero is what made it such a chore to play. If it had traditional Star Fox controls it'd been much more enjoyable.

Play a hidden gem released in 2021 called Chorus stylized as Chorvs. That is exactly what I want from a new Starfox. You have open regions of space to explore but not too big. You have a story and mini side missions. Small Zelda like dungeons in your spaceship. The ship upgrades (given by story progression) are really cool. There is a demo out there but I think it takes place at the start of the game when you have a junk ship rather than the cool ship you get after that. I am just talking Gameplay not the story of that game. Go play Chorus. It's great.

It's not close enough to a new Star Fox. -_-

Rail shooter, not an adventure, is a must.

120 fps would be a nice to have

also multiple paths is a must

coop would be a nice to have

rtx 4090, 32 gb ram, i7-13700k

Switch 2

I have no idea what that even means. Series is always experimenting with new formulas. Also just another remake of a 90s game is part of Zero's problem even if it had normal controls just be bland for being another remake. I get that's all you want but it does need to evolve. Nintendo just has not figured it out yet. Chorus I know you have not played it, you don't seem to play anything outside Nintendo. It would satisfy both, dogfight missions like old but also something more and new.

Especially for all range sections. We can't have the whole game be just on rails.
