Forums - Nintendo - What's your most played Switch 1 game(s), and why?

Same deal as the Switch 2 thread, what's your most played Switch 1 game(s) and what about them kept you coming back to them?

Around the Network

Years wise, Smash. Total hours, Rise-Sunbreak and FZERO 99.

Edit: forgot the "why". As you can see,  I'm a sucker for gameplay, having lived a videogame life since the 80s. The Switch is one of the best systems ever, and the 2 Zeldas got a few other hundred hours between them. Also, played Skyrim in it for the first time before moving to a modded PC version.

Fire Emblem Three Houses

Very long RPG with 4 routes, each taking about 60 to 80 hours to beat if you bother watching all dialogues/banters/story beats

Add another couple of hours from the DLC, and of course the hours replaying the game in higher difficulty settings for the challenge

End: Over 600 hours played

Edit: It's actually 700 crazy, I'm on a trip and brought Switch to me the game I play between commuting by bus/transfer is... well 3 Houses

I’ll have to double check, but it’s about 735 hours for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It’s been a cozy, warm blanket since March 2020.

Totk, Kart.

I spent a lot of time playing Zelda, because it was a great game. But, it's likely that Kart is actually the game with the most time, because I played it quite a bit with my son.

About 600 in Animal Crossing and counting with a Switch 2 Edition now.
It's a comfort game and I played so much of it in 2020.

Daemon X Machina. Well over 300 hours. It's not a long game but me and mech games. After that mostly RPGs and Astral Chain.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

BOTW because it's a chonky boy I played through during the pandemic. Followed by Advanced Wars 1 + 2 Re Boot Camp which has addictive turn based strategy gameplay and will probably move up into the top spot because I still haven't played the second campaign.

2025 OpenCritic Prediction Leagues

Smash Bros Ultimate by a mile, but I put an asterisk on that because after I introduced Smash to my brother in laws, they told all their friends about it, so for a good while, my Switch became a hub of sorts every weekend for everyone to play Smash on it competitively against each other lol. So while I have over 600 hours clocked in, only like 50 of those hours is actually me playing lol.

Next closest is Breath of the Wild. Put a little over 100 hours into the game, and at the time, it felt like such a breath of fresh air. Was playing everyday. If it weren’t for so many damn korok seeds, I would’ve 100% the game lol
