Final result for 2025: 68.5kg, (151 lbs) down from 82kg (180.7 lbs) early in the year, so 13.5kg lost. (29.8 lbs)

I think this is a reasonably healthy weight so now I just wanna maintain; easier said than done atm due to depression cravings and feeling too exhausted to exercise as much.

We'll see how I go, but my current goal is to get to the end of Jan without gaining.

Depends how tall you are ?

In my opinion the perfect weight is the one you feel good without being stressed about it. A kilo more or less isn't that important.

I'm 183cm, so my weight now is towards the low end of my ideal weight range, but still inside it, giving me lots of breathing room if I have a bad month and gain weight.

Heart disease runs in my family, so I need to maintain a very healthy weight or I get stressed out about it.

Indeed sub 70kg is on the low side in that case. But people are build differently. heavy bones and such. Or the opposite.

I'm 170 cm and 70kg. For years now. As long as I remember in my adult live actually. And I'm 51. But then I'm build like a brick.

I would need to starve myself to lose 1 kilo, but then again I don't gain anything when going all out as well. At least not for long, I just poop it out.

In my experience it's not so much how much to eat, but what to eat. Use oil instead of butter to fry meat. Change it up with fish regularly. Don't use pre-fab food, but take the effort to cook with fresh (as possible) ingredients. It makes a difference.

I guess it also depends what is available. E.g. For my job I regularly visited the US. The bread over there is terrible. More sugarly cake then resembling anything like normal bread we get over here in Europe. Don't know how it is in Australia.

Good for you.Although 151 for a 6 foot tall man seems low. I get that there is some anxiety that it helps you with, but I might suggest consulting with an expert. A lower weight is not necessarily healthier. In particular, weight lifting and muscle building tends to have beneficial effects on cardiovascular health, so if you can work weight lifting into your routine, it may do you more good than focussing solely on weight.

I've been really trying this year, but sadly have not been able to lose much over the past year, still hovering around 200 lbs. Its been pretty frustrating since I've been really trying my best to stay on top of my diet and exercise despite having a much more demanding job than I've had in the past. And the job is right around tons of fast food places, which is my weakness. It's been hard fighting cravings all day, spending the free time I have at the gym, and still not seeing any progress. Although, I suppose if I hadn't been doing all that, I'd probably be back up to about 250 by now.

I was on antidepressants for a while (which is about when I stopped being able to lose weight), and got off of them about a month or a month and a half ago. At least this has dialed down the crazy carb cravings I had. I am hoping that once my system recalibrates I'll be able to lose more weight in 2026. I'd like to get down to about 175 and do a body scan to see where I'm at in terms of muscle to fat and then see how much more I would want to lose. I expect 160-165 would probably be a weight I could maintain and feel comfortable with. I'm not going to have like a six pack, but some things just aren't meant to be.

It's really hard once you throw meds into the mix; they can really mess with your metabolism, I know from personal experience.

Hang in there; some helpful stuff I've found is just finding ways to make little weight savings like black coffee/tea, slightly smaller portions, going for walks/taking the stairs, etc.

If you're not feeling up to it though that's completely fine too, gotta look after your mental health as well. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks appreciate it. I'm actually doing pretty well right now, which is part of the reason I was able to get off the medication. After a rough month of withdrawal symptoms I've felt reasonably good. Definitely not actively depressed.

I drink tons and tons of tea, which definitely helps kill cravings. Try to exercise as much as possible, and got some weights and a treadmill for my home to make me less likely to skip workouts. I feel like I'm doing the things I should be doing and am hoping it's just a matter of the medication. If I give it another few months and its not working, I'll either start considering GLP-1 or just accept the fact that this is my body's equilibrium.

Good on ya for making a lot of progress last year and getting to a weight you're happy about. Hopefully you manage to maintain it and for me last year wasn't ideal for this since I started 2025 at 83.2 and was intending to lose over 10 that year and reach my final weight goal that being the low 70's but instead I'm now 86.8 so am up YoY cause for a large chunk I was doing poorly with my diet. I feel motivated to make 2026 the year where that happens though so if I can consistently eat well again from this point I should be able to get back to the 70's in just a few months. I've gotten there before a couple times but it didn't last long.

Not sure if this qualifies as "sports" (fitness maybe) but since I have a really bad family history of heart attack/stroke (my Dad and his Dad both died at around 50 from it) I've been working hard to get in better shape this year, and today I got back my blood cholesterol test with "excellent" results, and I'm down 13kg/28 pounds since January and 27kg/60 pounds since 2014 when I was overweight.

Been jogging every day when I can, walking whenever possible, cutting out sugar and eating smaller portions.

Anyone else working on fitness these days?

I am, mate. I was pushing about 218 lbs (around the heaviest I've ever been, and a lot of it is fat), and I've lost about 10 pounds and want to lose more.

I'm moving more on the treadmill and such. My recent labs said my cholesterol is at risk, but not bad enough yet for medication. I need to reduce my cholesterol as well and eat more of a Mediterranean diet.

Thanks; all the best with the new year; remember to try to lose it gradually so you don't burn out and crash out. That's happened to me before, I push myself too hard then end up not being able to maintain it. Slow and steady wins the race.

Wishing you best outcome; some hacks I find helpful are switching to oats over cereal, black coffee, green tea, and keeping each portion a bit smaller. Also, if exercise is hard, just going for walks is a relaxing way to keep your activity up.

I mainly just count calories and try to stick to around 1700 a day which is good for 2-3KG a month lost when I'm consistent with it. The consistency is the hard part though and when I start messing up with it it can take a while to get back on track though I have been consistent with it for entire year stretches earlier this decade so I just need to do that again.
