Honestly, I just don't like modern RE games including the remakes. Capcom for my tastes never started a new golden age, but I'm happy that they improved over PS360 era and that people are enjoying their stuff.
I got RE8 for VR, and it was incredible due to VR immersion, but then I quickly dropped it because as amazing as VR is, it's uncomfortable/nauseating to me. And the game on a flat screen is bland so I hardly bothered playing. Hated RE3 and 4 remake demos as well.

If I get it it'll be on the PS5 whilst on sale ($20 or less). One of my annoyances with Nintendo platforms is the price of the software even for third parties. I feel that could change with S2 if the third party scene become competitive enough and bigger sales/deals become more frequent. I think I bought RE7 on PS4 for like $12 or something silly like that lol.
Probably experience wise PS5 with headphones is where it's at for me, but this isn't at the top of my priority list which is why S2 is considered an option (more likely to find time to play it)
Switch 2 is the only one of these platforms I own so I'll be getting it there but if I had a PS5, then that would be the version I'd want to play the most. For something like Street Fighter 6 I'm fine with owning the Switch 2 version alone but for Resident Evil, the extra graphical fidelity of the PS5 does make a sizable difference to me and is a title that I would much rather play like that on a big screen as opposed to the advantages of portability.
Probably will pass on this as I did with RE8. There's too many really well reviewed Survival horror games that I want to play. It's have to score like a 95 and I doubt that'll happen.
Steam because RE9 will run at or close to 240fps 4K on my PC, and all the other platforms can't come close to that.
I'll likely get it on PC first through a bundle.
But will likely play it on my PS5 in a few years , I'm planning to play from RE0 and head towards RE9 afterwards.
