Late last month, a 23 year old Ukrainian refugee, who had fled her country to escape Putin's invasion, was brutally stabbed to death on a train in North Carolina in an unprovoked attack, by a man with at least 14 prior arrests.

The story initially received very little coverage, but has since gained traction on social media and generated widespread outrage, with even President Trump making a statement.

Horrific. He shouldn't have even been on the streets given his priors and medical history. Completely preventable, like so many other cases across the west. The media handled this case disgracefully by trying to bury it too, for very obvious reasons.

Anyway, another shining example of the failure of the criminal justice system and healthcare system in the US. Completely preventable and it's such a shame someone who was fleeing war still ended up with a violent unnecessary death.

That's over 30 hate crimes every single day.

The FBI’s crime statistics estimates, based on reported data, show a violent crime occurred, on average, every 25.9 seconds in 2024. The breakdown shows on average a murder occurred every 31.1 minutes and a rape occurred every 4.1 minutes.

16,900 murders in 2024 and that's a decrease of 14.9% from 2023.

Someone put the video on Twitter, it was so brutal and random, I still feel sick a day later. I hope she went into shock fast and didn't understand what was happening.

This broke me.

I did not watch the video but are we going to act as if such murders do not happen in the US a lot and not just big cities but in general. The question about this incident is how much will it be used politically. Instead of this being an issue where someone who clearly has some mental issues and needed some serious help, all this seem to be doing is playing to the tune of people who want to use it for political gain. You would thing the political gain would be to recognize people who are at this violent point and seek to help them or get them off the street instead of playing to some BS about violent crime in Dems cities thus we need military assistance.
